Only if you have a comprehensive knowledge of dozens of modern military vehicles, their capabilities and limitations, across many many countries.
>>
>>35128815
So by /k/ standards, not at all
>>
>>35128839
Basically to succeed you need lots of pre-existing knowledge, or be ready to encounter a steep learning curve.
>>
>>35128850
You kidding?
>Good recon
>Decent arty
Boom, you'll win most games.
>>
>>35128799
What I really like about it is that it emphasizes how important recon is.

If you can see what's going on better than your opponent you will always have the upper hand.

Or just read the wikia dedicated to this game. Most stats are already covered when you make a deck too.

For what it is, Steel Division is still pretty solid. CoH and MoW can't match the scale of combat, and it brings a pretty unique style of gameplay to the table. It's no Air Land Battle, but as far as Eugen goes they could have (and, in fact, have- pic related) done a lot worse

It's a fun game with many exploitable flaws.
>>
>>35128952
Most pro players spend at least half of all of their deployment points on recon. It's excellent having sniper teams scattered across the map and behind enemy lines watching their every move, occasionally raiding their bases too.
>>
>>35128799
I just picked up this game.
>Buson pocket: easy
Fucking seriously? out of probably 20 games, I only won once.

>2nd Korean War: very difficult
again, wtf. I won it the first time I played it.

It's a pretty good game, BUT, the campaign is seriously WTF.

BUT, I haven't been able to find anything for stats on individual units and I'm just kinda going off of minor basics and tactics.
>>
>>35129850
I agree 100% recon is the best thing to roll with if you can get them fuckers behind the line
>>
>>35129906
Look in the Armory or when you are putting a deck together if you mouse over the unit it gives you the stats
>>
>>35128815
Which have little to no bearing whatsoever on the game? It's laughably unrealistic in how vehicles, weapons and force makeups are projected because it's ultimately a game with gamey stats. You just need to know the general jist of 'this is a tank' and 'this shoots a missile' before going over to some meta ranking to build your deck.
>>
Its not super realistic or anything, but its pretty deep gameplay wise and a lot of fun to play against other players online. The way I like to describe the accuracy is that the stats aren't true to life at all, BUT they do compare to each other semi realistically, if that makes sense? Like the stats for an M1A1 and a T-72 aren't accurate to real life, but the compare to each other realistically in the way that the M1A1 has much better accuracy and AP power, etc. So basically confrontations between units ends more or less as they would ILR for the most part, and that's good enough for me.

You wont find a single game with as much cold war porn as this. It has like 2000 units (80% of which are shit but still). You'll spend a fuck load of time just ogling all the units and stats and shit when building decks.

Plus the game is extremely graphically impressive for the amount of shit that is happening, and you can zoom in all the way to the ground level causing for some super aesthetic moments.

Overall if you are interested in cold war gone hot stuff, this game is a must have. Pretty high learning curve but super rewarding to win.

TL;DR Best cold war game there is
>>
>>35130014
Also a certain (((faction))) is weirdly the best in the game, yet best Korea still has to fuck around with 70's tech like it's real life
>>
>>35130069
Israel is just powercreep, and they're still not as overpowered as France was when the game first came out.
>>
>>35130069
Yeah, its pretty shitty that the best factions are Israel and Yugoslavia.

I get that its because they are DLC and shit, but there i no way Yugoslavia should be better than USSR and USA/NORAD

My theory is that its because of the meta. The meta is all about using super expensive super powerful snowflake units and Yugo and Israel have a fuck load.

USSR has them also, but its supposed to use huge numbers of shittier stuff but that doesn't work
>>
>>35130069
The norks get a fucking T90, they get some bullshit they shouldn't still.
>>
>>35129906
AI cheats in the game.

SP is fucking pointless. Play online, get raped by people with thousands of games playing meta decks.

The game was a lot of fun, the best times are 4v4s or 3v3s with friends doing Cat B or Cat C non coalition decks.
>>
>>35130090
Meanwhile the US Air Force which Eugene touted as being one of the equalizers for their ground forces being meh is outperformed in every factor by every other 'major' faction (USSR, France, UK).

The naval aspect is garbage
I lit an Oliver hazard perry up at close range and it only had someone die on the bridge
Also ships would never get that close for engagement
It's all Over the horizon missiles besides the AAW
1990s warfare isn't an excuse
Needed more warships I was hoping for a gulf war equipped Missouri BB go toe to toe with a Kirov class
>>
>>35129813
I'm so pissed off AoA failed, it was supposed to basically be Act of War but better. Instead they decided to fuck it all up.

>4 resources to manage
>grid-based building
>1 faction lacks anti-tank early game, meaning you ALWAYS get vehicle rushed
>TUSK II Abrams die after 2 shots from enemy tanks
>tanks in fucking general are made of cardboard

Nothing pissed me off more than getting 6 Abrams with TUSK II and watching 3 stealth tanks just pop them all in seconds.
>>
>>35130630
Flanker, Grippen, Rafale, Eurofighter are all better than the F-15.
>>
>>35130086
I found that Japan and commonwealth motorized decks were pretty OP when the game launched.

>everyone keeps chopping rushing like retards
>play as Japan, send forth my Jap-Avengers
>12 choppers get swatted down by Jap humvee's drifting around corners firing stingers
>3 players quit

>play as Canada/ANZAC motorized
>hordes of LAV's carrying heavy infantry charging to sectors
>unload infantry and hold entire towns while LAV's pound anything that approaches
>Bizon-mortar was so accurate it could disable tanks and turn entire sectors into smoke filled wastelands in seconds
>NZ-SAS were literally invisible when firing because silencers were broken for months, sneak them and Canadian Recce into enemy reinforcement sectors to hunt for their CV
>>
Does anyone know much about Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star?
>>
>>35129719
Too early to tell, it's a pretty game with neat gun mechanics but that's all it has going for it right now.
>>
>>35131249
>Aussies never see a nerf to their LAV rushes
>Meanwhile MadMat is sperging out on the forums about how the US Marines never used LAV-25s as transports and as such shouldn't have them as a choice.
>Despite actual marines who have actually served in these units saying otherwise.
>And this still isn't as bad as Riflemen '90 being stuck with M60s still.

Though nothing will ever beat pre-nerf SAS and their stingers man.
>>
>>35131098
The lack of different ships really turned me off from naval, the shitty combat more so. Nothing was more annoying than getting a destroyer and 2 escorts for improved CIWS coverage only for some faggot to spam 20 mig-21's carrying anti-ship missiles and call it a day. The naval needed torpedo's and better options for shore bombardment.

>no Canadian or Aussie ships
>only 2 types of British ships
>no fucking German or Scandinavian ships

>>35131249
The F-111Cs were fucking brutal before they were nerfed, too
>>
>>35129172
Gravy team tactics
>>
>>35131297

pre-nerf SAS with their stinger Cs and elite training were the best AA in the game. Also the german falksjimjaeger 90' prenerf was a monstruous murder machine.
>>
>>35131297
Spetznas with their BFG 9000's (napalm launcher) were the most broken infantry unit in the fucking game. They became unholy levels of broken the higher their veterancy, level 5 Spetz could disable and heavy damage fucking tanks. at level 3 they would 1-shot entire platoons of infantry.
>>
>>35131333
Those things were fucking hilarious to use.

>playing commonwealth deck, barely holding the line
>dude starts pushing my sector, Canadian Airborne about to be overrun
>panicking because if I lose the sector I can't retake from all the shit he's throwing at it
>remember I have an F-111C, promptly turn the entire sector into a parking lot
>opponent quits

What a fucking let down that was the soviets had some insane surface combatants such a as the Kerch , kara , sovromeny , Kirov and Slava

Also the Aussies were still rocking DDGs in the 90s
This game had potential

Naval was always a bit of window dressing, if the fact that it wasn't fleshed out to the level of the rest of the rosters the reason why it didn't live up to potential you were expecting the wrong thing.
>>
>>35133703

To be fair to Eugen, there is no way they could make the naval game interesting even if they had 400 different naval units. Modern naval warfare is basically missile spam and CIWS counter-spam exactly like how RD presents it, there's a reason that most of the naval strategy games out there focus on battleship-era warfare rather than the modern period.

Recently started to play again sooooo much fun with Swedish mg42 arty. Only shit thing is people team killing ruins waiting 30+min waiting for a game

Yeah, I thought I was just awful at the game when I tried to do the Campaigns. Then I went online, won a couple of games and realised the AI's just a bastard.

The worst part for me was they killed the game after releasing the Red Nations DLC. Like the whole point I was hanging on was to play Serbia. And the day that happened, they shut down shop.

>>35128799
Yes.

Naval stuff is awful if you're a vatnik or burgerboo. Everything devolves into gun battles because almost nothing gets through CIWS. So you end up just taking ships to counter other ships, they have practically no impact on land battles.
>>
>>35130014
>You wont find a single game with as much cold war porn as this.

Steel Panthers: Main Battle Tank - and it's free. DPICM, FASCAM, Napalm, Thermobarics, tons more units than RD, can do large and small battles easily and covers the entire range from WW2 to Cold War Gone Hot.

Also you can dick around with the editor and make GAU-8 Tanks.

Eugene said because they didn't fit the scope, which is about halfway to admitting they didn't want the headache of dealing with them on an already barebones system.
>>
The main problem dealing with this game is the lack of mod support. Every time they updated the game, it broke mods to the point where it would take months to fix.

No, ALB was the last good one.
