Depends on a lot. Dial-up and such was wayyyy more resilient because the phone network was actually designed to be. They had people at the exchanges who would tend to the generators and stuff there. Newer infrastructure relies on battery backups, so when that runs out you're fucked unless the telco runs around attaching the boxes to gensets.

I helped put shutters on my friends 3rd floor apartment. Neighbors on 2nd floor put sign on their door, "WE EVACUATED". These people were 12 feet off the ground, with concrete above and below them, and yet getting on the highway with a million other people somehow seemed like the safer option.

Sorry for taking so long to update, lost power around 12 and my service went to shit. Woke up today to downed trees all over. Used my chainsaw to cut up mine, then helped the neighbors cut up theirs in order to clear the street. Was stuck on generator power for a few hours but the city got the power back up in my neighborhood. The houses on either side of me backyards flooded.
Also just got done dropping the generator off at my father's workplace in Orlando. Lots of downed trees and road signs along 192. Lots of fucked up fences to. There's basically a nonstop convoy of utility trucks heading south to Miami.

Weird power situation. Like 50% of stoplights are on and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. McDonalds and Dunkin were open in the morning but sold through whatever they had left by around 3. Publix was open but no tendie subs.

downed trees on my street, piles and piles of downed branches filling up the curbs of all nearby houses. one branch in the yard was well over 200lbs

lost power for 3.5hrs and AC is kaput

going to run for provisions and attempt AC repair tomorrow

no visible damage to the house, shutters held well. still have to do a thorough inspection of the roof and clear it off

Driving 12 hours back to Broward from Panama City. Apparently we still have power but no cable or clean water. Hope shit is dry so I can skate at least.

West palm reporting in. During the storm a few trees fell around here in my complex and alot of branches are still scattered. Right now everything is all good. Went our earlier with my hachet and cut up some bigger branches and widdled myself a debarked stick for fun.

Clay county reporting in again. Power has been out since 12:50 last night. Waiting for it to be restored but generator is keeping the AC, fridge, lights, and TV running. No cable so using an HD antenna tuner for news.
