I prefer Argentine style slim sheath with the handle tilting upward toward the dominant hand. The so called scout carry just looks too bulky. For me the pros are that a longer belt knife is kept out of the way while I'm working and doesn't interfere with a holster or belt pouch, while still being easily accessible as needed. The downside is sitting down or wearing a long jacket.

I've tried carrying like that on my battle belt. It looks cool and your knife is tucked away but you can't easily resheath it. It's a very difficult process when you're at an awkward angle and can't see where the top of the knife is. You'll keep missing the hole and stabbing your gear. Now if you had to do it quickly for whatever reason, quickly cutting a rope then having to run or rescue someone, you're likely going to have to ditch your knife because you won't be able to sheath it quickly.
