/k/ used to have innawoods hreads quite a bit, then they turned into cancer from overposting and newfaggotry. This thread is for digging and research.

There are three stories from Northern Nevada, two within rather close proximity of one another. I've done some digging and I think I've narrowed it down quite a bit.

First I'll post the three stories, then the contents of my research.

This is the second story. Both happened in close proximity to one another (10 miles). The third has extremely similar descriptions, but did not happen quite a close. We are trying to nail down the mine and shaft location in the OP.

Third story.

Based on the descriptions found in all three stories

>'thing' lives near mine shafts, likely in a social group
>'things' inhabit abandoned mines, rather common theme, see Ted the Caver
>'things' can resist several full size .30 cal rounds
>'things' may either have a gland to excrete horrific smell or themselves smell god awful- either way humans seem to have an instinctual 'flight' response to it.

Now for the research bit.

>Per one UNR source, there should be two abandoned shafts in the vicinity of, both for tungsten.
>Cross-referencing that against their database for documents involving tungsten mines/claims in Elko county produced quite a few results. One definite tungsten mine location is by Battle Creek. >The Battle Creek location is ~20 miles south of where we were looking, but it does have the crook in the road as described by E Zed.
>The trees are there as described, but I can't see a structure or a giant rock. The topography isn't an exact match either.
>A website that tracks mining claims, places 4 potential entrances within a few hundred yards, but not at the particular location that E Zed indicated.
>There is also a second hook in the road on the other side, but it doesn't exactly match the description either.

Here is the UNR source map.

another UNR source. The battle creek location was easy enough to find, and may be a good place to start the search, but its ~20 miles from the general location described by the first two stories.

The more northern location shown by the map in >>35118719 still eludes me.

Not necessarily. According to the ATF website, a foreign national can technically purchase/own firearms and ammo on just a state hunting license. However, note that this depends on the state's rules on foreigners getting hunting licenses, and FFLs willing to sell to a foreigner so licensed. Some will refuse to sell them anything except "hunting" firearms (whatever the owner deems sporting) or even tell them they're not willing to do it for liability reasons.

Still doesn't change the odd location of his body, or explain how everyone missed it.

Again this story would make 100% sense in the winter, but it was in the middle of the summer, with teams of dogs within 100 feet of a rotting body.

Consider also, wouldn't you aggressively search the area surrounding his supplies in an every enlarging circle looking for tracks or other clues, or the body itself? How did it take them 4 days to search 100 square feet around his clothes?

On a related note, I remember another greentext about marines(or another military branch) out at someone's ranch or something that go hunting for a skinwalker in a series of mineshafts. I cannot remember where(if mentioned) the location of that story was. Anyone else know what I'm referring to?

T]he next minute he was full in their view,
advancing upon them with a terrible look and
ferocious mien. Our little band instinctively
gathered close in a body and presented their
rifles. The huge being, nothing daunted,
bounded upon his victims, and in the same
instant received the contents of seven rifles.

The fight, however, did not end there:

...[H]e did not fall alone, nor until he had
glutted his wrath with the death of five of
them, which he effected by wringing the head
from the body. - Writhing and exhausted, at
length he fell, with his hapless prey beneath
his grasp.

Most gun show sellers wouldn't risk something that, to their oft-uneducated ears, sounds awfully like an ATF sting operation.

Call around FFLs, ask about the hunting license deal. Chance is, one will know the right procedure and he'll be able to get something "sporting" like a pump shotgun.

It does fit one of the common characteristics of Navajo skinwalker stories, they always lose if you're on your home turf.

That guy was definitely in his home, even if he wasn't in a building at the time. The important part is that it was his personal territory.

Alright, for the sake of the arguement lets assume all this shit is real.
What the hell are "Skinwalkers" in the Innawoods sense more then the Navajo witch sense.
Are they an unknown mundane species, and unknown paranormal species, mutated humans, humans with 3spooky5me powers?
And then the pressing question, what happens if you kill one and cook it? Do you get Skinwalker mad cow disease? Does that count as cannibalism? These are pressing questions, /k/

Potential blue-on-blue incident during a hunting trip gone wrong? Maybe Wayne got injured, couldn't make it back to the truck, and knew his friends would be slowed down by carrying him, turning them into easy prey to be picked off in transit?
One (or possibly more) shotgun discharge to make sure he didn't suffer, then skeddadle straight for the truck while the creature was busy with the camp and the corpse.

Best post this here as well. If you guys are hunting these things.

Reports on ammo effectiveness.
"Don't take as fact, only reports and research"

All the reports i found say that
>9mm did nothing.
>357 mag did nothing
>nothing on 45/10mm or 44mag
>5.56 did semi good.
>7.62x39 dropped a bigfoot after a mag dump at close range (pretty sure this is bullshit)
>308 fucked one up good after two shots but didn't kill it.
>338 LM easy but still did not kill
>nothing on large game guns "375h&h, 416 rig, etc"
>nothing with 50cal yet

So i decided to looking into african game stopping power
Nothing under 6000 J of energy, 13000 J if we count in elephants.
Then into bear hunting, "sidearm" 44 mag and up, 10mm/45 if you're a glockfag/1911fag.
"Rifle" 4000 j of energy at the muzzle.
It feels that shot placement doesn't matter here because no cunt is gonne have time to set up shots, unless at really long ranges.
It'll all be spray and pray think.

This is just acounts and info i found. Haven't done any test outside.

Shit i forgot about shutguns
If it kills a bear it'll do the job i guess.
But what about wendigos, these cunts can only be killed by fire from reports.
So make dragonfire shells.
Fuck it, go all abbo and burn down the whole fucking Forest.

>It'll all be spray and pray think.

nah. an african rifle will kill anything. those big bore black-powder guns are no joke. they designed the things to not just kill, but flatten african megafauna. although if you're not used to the recoil (or 12 foot spurt of flame and clouds of smoke) firing one will flatten you too. while not an african caliber, a .451 impacting at around 1100 yards will have the same energy as a .44 magnum fired at point blank range.
>>

This is the cheapest safari rifle I can come up with. 9.3x62 is considered a good all around cartridge in Africa and has taken all of the Big 5 numerous times. If it can take an elephant and a rhino, a giant ground sloth should be no problem, especially if we focus our fire.

I saw a greentext a few months back about a marine who had a gunny that was leaving the base looking scared and prepped for war, saying he was going camping. I think it was in some canyons in the San Diego area.

After looking around on /k/, he found a post that sounded like the gunny talking about hearing what he thought was a kid asking for help down a ravine while he was camping alone. He noped the fuck out of there when he saw an 8 foot humanoid shadow.

After he did research, the gunny noted multiple suspicious deaths from the park and went on a quest to kill whatever that thing was. Guy said he wanted to help out his gunny. Unknown date on the posts though.

I might be able to convince a certain museum to loan me an artillery piece or two.

Pic very related

Can't you buy Korean war era mortars and pay a tax stamp to reactivate it?
>>
>>35140579
Artillery is useless without a valid and known target. Fire for effect once the /k/ommandos are engaged will result the murder kube being fed, but also an outstanding defeat of the gear queers and an overwhelming victory for the current threat, similar in scale to the Emu War.

anyone got the cap of the manhunts in oregon?

I was just up there, i have a picture at the same place as the first one, and was about 1/2 mile from the ridge mentioned.
I dont go to hidden lake though, shitty fishing. Robinson is where its at.

Nah, I've been all over that area, I regularly backpack into it from the solder creek trailhead, hang out for a few days. never seen or heard anything strange.

Mm ok. I wonder though. These stories that is.

>>
Anyone have the story with the Gunny ?? I think he went to fight one of these fucks in some shaft. I dont think he made it back. God bless his soul.
>>
>>35146111
TRIPS OF JUSTICE.

The reason I ask is because I checked the dated he posted with a local news about this girl disappearing. Thing is, Gunny said she was gone and there was no finding her.

Days later, they find that girl in a mineshaft - DEAD. Gunny wanted to go hunt it but we never heard back from him either.

Good luck Gunny !!

Anyone have that post ? Or know which one I am referring to ?

Fleshgaits are skinwalkers and skinwalkers are wendigos in this.
>>
>>35146525
Wendigos and Navajo skinwalkers are separate things. Wendigos are evil spirits that are the root cause of cannibalism in some of the Northern Indian legends. Navajo skinwalkers are basically witches that can turn into animals. Fleshgaits are what most anons call skinwalkers in mlst innawoods greentexts.
>>
>>35118647

Bumping this thread for interest. Incidentally, I'm from PA... I did not expect that there was actually a contingent of people from /k/ that, like myself, were compiling stories about the Gorp/ Skinwalkers from /x/ in an effort to go hunt them.
>>
Bump this shit.
>>
>>35124918
>stop shooting everything
Well, they're not leaving our territory alone, so...
>>
>>35127185
Ive read through and catalogued a good bit from the stories.

From what i can tell, the bulk of encounters that are consistent with one another describe a "mundane animal" (even something bigfoot-like).

It needs to be realised that in most of the stories where people shoot at the things, theyre vastly undergunned for dealing with large or hardened (dense boned, like bear and boar) game, and in most of the shape-shifter stories, theyre either obvious fiction or dont have an actual creature sighting and sound more like "cityfag gets confused innawoods" stories.
>>
>>35126967
What I want most other than actual footage of these things, is the sound they make to be recorded, I Want to hear how terrifying these things are but its gonna be hard because it will most likely be fakes

I killed a megatherium with a single center of mass shot from a colt delta elite with a 10mm black talon round. Unfortunately it fragmented on the way through and hit the floor of the mineshaft and I guess overpenetrated to the earth's core because these little streams of lava came squirting out of the ground and started setting shit on fire so I booked it out of there and the flaming struts burned away and the entire shaft collapsed moments after I got out of the mountain.

I always talk about my collection of data from the stories...figured I'd finally post something showing it.

Pic related is the data I pulled from some 40 stories that breaks down what the shape of the creature is, when the story was posted, what special characteristics the creature had, whether and how it was killed or injured, whether drugs or alcohol were mentioned in the story, and whether certain things show up in the ur-story, anansi's goat man.

Hope it's useful. I'd tentatively say that my data indicates that skinwalkers were nothing but a 2013-2014 story telling fad...unfortunately.
>>
>>35157781
seems my numbers were off. I think I catalogued 55, not 40 stories.

Realistically, what is the minimum 'guaranteed sufficient' obtainable ordinance to kill the largest (killable) cryptid one might run into just poking around out in the woods? By which I mean I'm not talking about magical motherfuckers or alien energy shields. I'm talking about the potential for 'hard science' cryptids. Weird shit that is not out of the realm of possibility. So basically large land mammals with very thick skin/musculature/etc... that may deflect or be barely affected by most conventional 'antipersonnel' SD pistol calibers/intermediate rifle rounds.

Obviously; REALISTIC availability. The average person does not have access to an M240, a KS-23 or any of the gyrojet line.

What I can think of off-hand would be old style big game calibers? 45-70? winmags?(300 and 338s?) etc?

How about less conventional but easily accessible explosive or incendiaries? Has anyone ever tried to stop a charging grizzly or rhino with a flamethrower? Assuming a solid contact and the 'barb' sinking into the skin for the detonation at point blank, is there any land animal that can completely shrug off the old 'stick of dynamite tied to the head of a spear'?
>>
>>35158197
I'd say go with one of the old safari magnums. Something that can put down a charging cape buffalo should be sufficient for anything mortal.

The largest charging grizzly can be stopped by 30-06. I personally know someone who was charged by a 1/2 ton grizzly and he was hunting with a 1903 Springfield he managed 2 shots with the bolt action and the grizz dropped and practically slid into him dead. Was in Alaska. Seen pictures.

So I believe in 30-06 and 308 for killing pretty much anything. Even spooky cryptids.

He's truly one with the kill now. His body the ultimate weapon, the sword is an extension of his body. It commands the grim reaper and he obeys. You didn't see a methhead. You saw a man becoming a prophet of death. Pic unrelated

I don't understand what all of you have against skinwalkers. What? Like if a bunch of people broke into your house and were making a racket, don't tell me you wouldn't try to separate one from the herd, flay them, assume their visage and creep out their cohorts so they get the fuck off your property.

Fucking hypocrites.

i have never told anyone except 4 of my friends, before i tell you this let me tell you a few details, we been chased off the woods by coyotes and this is near the BWI Airport.
>Me and 2 friends decide to go to our little campsite near the biketrail ( its a far away from the bike trail so people cant see it)
>We didn't plan to stay there for too long so we didn't bring flashlights and of course no Funs since we have to walk on the bike trail to get to our camp
>We arrive at our campsite, my friends fuck off to do whatever and i start looking for firewood to start a fire. while im gathering materials i find pieces of fur but i dont mind it
> Fast forward a few hours and its getting dark so we decide to head out i also had been having a feeling like we are being watched
>as we make it to the biketrail its already dark but there's enough moonlight so you can see but everything is either black of grayish
>we are about 120 feet away from the main road and my friend stops and says "do you see that? " we both look at what he's pointing at
> its a human shape but like 6 feet tall walking towards us
>he gets out his machete and we all do the same, the figure stops and turns to its side and goes on all fours
> i shit you not it disappears for a second and on the spot that he was on a coyote appears and walks off into the woods
>we book it like a librarian

pic related we found this a couple of weeks later.
i also told my other friend what we saw
>he decides to go there the next day at 1 am in the morning
>of course no fucking guns, bring shitty cold steel Tanto
>anyways after we pass the spot where we saw it standing we heard noises so my friend turns on his vietnam donkey dick flashlight
>EYES everywhere like 20 fucking coyotes to our left and right, we decide to keep walking deeper into the woods
>they keep following us and getting a little bit closer to us so my friend decides to light up flare
> keep thinking about /k/ green text, the flare keeps them at bay and they fuck off once we reach a golf shooting range, and nothing happens that day
also i have been back there recently but i never saw it again ( of course i bring my AR on my bag) i still feel watch even during the day, this all happen in 2013. I dont wanna see it again but how come i haven't seen it again ?
