Because you will need the headspace check by a gunsmith. Because if you learn to shoot on it you will develop a flinch. Because they are not cheap fun anymore. Because the only interesting rifle is an accurate one. THAT BEING SAID. They are a piece of history (although not rare) and that gives them something and they may hold value.

My Russian Mosin is a lovely shooter since I basically made it into a poor man's Finnish Nagant back when they were cheap.

PPU makes great 7.62x54R and it's pretty fun reloading getting 1.5"~2.25" groupings at 100yds if your barrel isn't shit.
