Been looking to get into 10MM.

Is this a good price/model for a first blaster?
>>
Good price, but bad choice for a first gun. Ammo is expensive and the recoil is substantial, good luck learning to shoot properly
>>
>>35115302
nigger just get a 9mm and decide after a year to get a 10mm
>>
>>35115302
I've had some 10mm handguns:
>g29, fine but a little thick for edc and it always bothered me to have 10mm paired with a short barrel
>g40 w/rmr, could not shoot accurately, rmr was actually messing me up, couldn't get used to it
>Colt Delta Elite, this was a new one and quality was kind of a let down.
I'm not giving up on 10mm though, my next one will be one of the following
Old s&w 1006(?)
Tangfolio
Or
That Ruger in the OP, probably the Ruger.
>>
>>35115478
Just buy a glock 20.

>>35115302
OP just buy a glock 20
>>
>>35115302
When in doubt, buy a .22 first and really get your shooting technique down.

Already have a G17. love it to death. More of looking for a fun range toy/backwoods gun.

>>35115488
Don't like Glocks in anything higher then .40, they feel cheap in my hands.

>>35115478
Another reason I don't wanna get the Glock is the thickness. I don't plan on making it a CC gun but who knows. I'd like it to fit on the waist if I do decide to do it.
>>
>>35115354
>recoil is substantial
Not that substantial
Full metal frame
Bull barrel
Also depends on the ammo
Thanks for stepping up and parroting the noguns shit you've heard on the webs
>>35115488
Wanna glocknade?
Understand that glock's grenade on .40 short and weak
Glock also makes guns with unsupported chambers
Why the fuck would anybody buy a glock when there is a known failure mode that they leave in the gun for decades?!?

Go away fudd
>>
>>35115706
There really aren't any. Most 10mms that aren't Gleck are 1911 copies in single stack. I believe Dan Wesson has a double stack 1911 copy in 10mm though.
>>
>>35115707

A "fudd" with common sense, you dickless noguns moron.

Get the expensive ones though

Only dickless because my Glock blew up xD

Everything you mentioned has been explained and fixed if it was a problem for years now, dude. Get learned.

Yeah I noticed this. The witness seems neat but not interested in the design; the Dan Wesson is three grand.

Jebus. Just want a bear handgun that isn't a revolver.
>>
>>35115797
Have you looked into a .40 super for a bear handgun?
10mm is just not really enough for angry animals.
Shit..
Even the 40 super isn't enough.
>>

admits there are hundreds of viable bear revolvers

Deagle brand Deagle in .44 Mag
alternatives:
45 super
460 rowland

The field strip requires a paperclip. If you can make that work, fine, but I despise military pistols that require tools for a simple breakdown.
>>
>>35115911
>I despise military pistols that require tools for a simple breakdown.
Oh, dear merciful God, why did they take away all the paperclips!
waaaaaah
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
Don't support the anti-paperclip legislation!
Support the #2A we have the right to bear paperclips!

I'm sorry, didn't realize this was the anime board. How about buying a real gun?

At least your looking at a man's caliber.

I just figured out these Ruger 10mm 1911's exist

I've never owned a 1911 before, how retarded would it be to buy one in 10mm before getting one in 45

I like ruger so I'd be getting an SR1911 regardless, which one do I get /k/
>>
>>35117749
SR1911's are some of the best outside of semi-custom makers, either one would suit you just fine. I'd rather a .45 just because of the field strip but 10mm is just a flat out better cartridge.
>>
>>35117774
Do the 10mm SR1911's have a different or more difficult field-stripping process? I know that 10mm is objectively superior but something feels "non-american" about it

I'll probably just flip a coin before pulling the trigger on either model
>>
>>35117792
Yeah, the take-down is a bit retarded because of the bull barrel, but it's not impossible and you'll get the hang of it after a few times. Just keep a paperclip in your cleaning kit.
>>
>>35115302
Can this thing take standard 1911 grips?

>>

wouldnt recommend this series from RIA

it looks great and shoots fine, but keep in mind you are buying basically the luxury version of what is still at the core, a cheap, not-pricesly manufactured entry level 1911 with defects, low precision parts, extremely tight tolerances forcing a breakin period that costs more than the pistol ($50-80 to replace the stock magazine, which has an extremely weak spring and a deformed plunger if it's like mine - and an insanely overbuild chunk of a slide lock lever that literally prevents cycling until you replace it or file it down)

front sight is a piece of red plastic slathered in glue, yet will fall out on your first few trips

basically i had to spend another $100 on this $580 pistol just to turn this into a pistol that functions almost as good as any infinite number of $450-500 pistols.

customer service is literally not in america and they don't give a fuck if you paid $600 for a pistol that does not function out of the box

Ha, you seriously think the 10mm will have "low" recoil for a first time shooter? Buddy, I can handle 10mm fine, as I'm sure a big tough man like yourself can, but OP is looking for a first pistol.
>>
>>35117832
OP phone posting here, I believe it has standard mounts but your standard grips will look smaller then on a .45

I have yet to buy a witness in any if the offered chamberings but a 9mm is on my list in the next week or so and when I decide to get a bestmm it's most likely going to be one of these. The CZ75 style slide will probably help quite a bit with the 10mm recoil; they sit a lot lower in the frame. From what I've heard the 10mm ones benefit from a little heavier of a recoil spring and once that happens they are really no worse than a .45.

get one before they stop making them because the poly ones sell better. 10mm all steel that you can carry that isnt a glock (also check the weight its not even that much heavier)? I have one and you should too.
>>
>>35120720
I'm not worried about the weight, just the thickness of the pistol. 1911 fits the front of my pants a little better.

The stock springs are weaker than they should be for full power 10mm and should be replaced. Other than that, get the stock 3 instead of the hunter unless you plan on putting a scope on it.
>>
>>35115478

I have an RIA and I love the thing. gonna get a tighter spring, because it cycles little girl loads a little too well for my liking, and I intend to do more practice with 630ft# sig sauer fmj's

Apart from springs, why? I don't need a rail.

I've been wanting
A 10mm
A single action only Tanfoglio CZ clone
A longslide
Another blued handgun

The Hunter seems to scratch several itches at once.

I'm actually really excited!
>>
>>35117749
No, .45acp is a pretty shit cartridge. Get some Buffalo Bore hard cast 10mm +p for anti-bear use, its equivalent to .41 magnum.

Buy a S&W 1006 if you can find one. I have one and it's definitely my favorite handgun.
>>
>>35115302
>$700

That.. doesn't seem all that bad actually.
>>
Why does it seem like all hammer fired 10mm automatics are either 1911 clones or too damn expensive?
>>
>>35123752
because you need a 45ACP or equivalent base size model frame for a 10mm round
>>
>>35123759
Yeah, but why always fucking 1911s?
>>
>>35123768
because everybody loves 1911s

and the the base frame is identical between all calibers
the frame just needs a 10mm ejector and you're good to go while other firearms might need different changes to accomodate the 10mm round
