I did that, sort of. The initial conscription is mandatory in my country but I decided to stay after mine. Why? Because filling the form and selling my soul for a couple years was easier than finding a good and respectable job. This retarded behaviour continued when I was asked whether I want to go to Afghanistan. It was easier than doing anything worthwhile.

And now a few years ago I did the same mistake with university. It was free and I had just quit my previous security job so what the hell. Now I've been stuck for three years studying a shitty field that does not interest me at all. I'll probably end up working in McDonald's after I finish my Master's Degree.

I joined to learn a trade. Spent 6 years in the Navy as a Boiler Technician and now work in a power plant making $42/hr. Easily make 6 figure with a little overtime.

Best decision I ever made was to join the military and learn a trade that would transfer over the the civilian world.

Imagine my shock to discover the overwhelming numbers of colleagues who have like-minded goals as me and work in secret to make the military a better place.

I joined Marine Corps at18, wasn't a virgin. Had a taste for cocaine, and no job. Was a highschool drop out, with a ASVAB score high enough that if I was a college grad, would have Qualified me for officer training. It was a shit show, I can't believe I actually did it, couldn't wait to see what they were going to have us do next. Basically boot camp was detox with a rifle and yelling! LOL!

I want to enlist because I believe that I am a warrior. I'm 21, went to school and learned a trade and I've had nice girlfriends that I could marry but that isn't my life. I don't care about money and besides the many jobs I've had didn't interest me more than 4 or 5 months because they had no purpose I was just a worker ant. I really like hiking and camping and survival type scenarios, I love guns and exercising and I work really well in a group of guys (If I can modestly say I make a good leader). I want to enlist as a 0321 reconnaissance man in the usmc. I'm 6'8" and about 200 pounds, I'm not worried about that but other people think I'm crazy to want to join just for that reason.
