I got my apartment searched when I was 18 because my bitch ass neighbor submitted a report that I was dealing drugs because she wasn't a big fan of my taste in music or something.

The officer that found the loaded P-38 I kept in my nightstand struggled for a full minute to figure out how to drop the heel-catch magazine before I couldn't stand to watch anymore and explained how it worked. Then I had to remind them to clear the live round from the chamber.

Unfortunately, I gave that particular gun back to the family member I was borrowing it from when I turned 21 and was able to buy my own handgun (G17, then a P30L). It was actually a Manurhin P1, a French manufactured copy on Walther machines with an aluminum frame. It was a great little gun, but I don't have any pics from that era of my life any more.

That entire interaction with the police was a shitshow. At the time I also had an old 1940's era mail-order type shotgun which was sold with no serial number which stumped both the officers and the dispatcher they were trying to use to check my guns against the reported stolen database. The female officer accidentally grabbed my 8" rubber dildo from my top dresser drawer without a glove on and it took her a few seconds to compose herself. They also tore open the bag of potpourri I had in the bathroom like they'd never encountered such a thing before.

NY city cops are in no ways all gun guys or sportsmen. City cops are building a retirement. I've met former cops that have only ever handled their service sidearm and had no interest at all in firearms.
