Being autistic and poor, I switched carry guns a lot over the years. Selling
one pistol to get a different one. Had I kept my handguns, would have a very nice
collection by now. Don't care so much, it was great experience. Have a good paying job
now, intend to build a modest collection of quality firearms. Here's what I carried & shot
extensively in order:

>Česká zbrojovka 75 compact
>Glock 17 gen4
>Heckler & Koch USP (v1, compact, 9mm)
>Glock 19 gen4
>Česká zbrojovka P-09 (9mm)
>Glock 19 gen4
>Glock 19 gen3
>Sig Sauer P229 (.357 Sig)
>Colt Detective Special (1970)
>Heckler & Koch USP (v1, compact, 9mm)
>Glock 19 gen3
>Glock 32 (.357 Sig)
>Česká zbrojovka P-09 (9mm)
>Smith & Wesson model 637 Airweight

Turns out I group alphas on IPSC targets with a snubby at 100 yards.
I am pretty content with my current carry piece, I shoot it very well. What I might carry next...

>Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .45 (I like what I see with .45 smashing through pork/beef ribs better than 9mm)
>Walther PPS
>Smith & Wesson 586 L-Comp
>Smith & Wesson model 60 Performance Center
>a fuckin' Colt government model .45 1911 lol
>probably a Glock 19 gen3 with an x300 ultra (I shoot this gun best, second maybe to the USP9c)

Whew I think I've found it this time...The sig is a much, much better carry piece than any of my prior guns. It takes time to get to know a gun, and there is no one gun that does everything well, you'll find where you're willing to compromise over time, and where you aren't.

The only gun I semi regret selling was a detective model FM Argentina Hi power. It had a shortened slide and I got it for a deal.

>1. Your first carry gun
Glock 19
>2. Why you got it
At the time (4 years ago) literally every youtuber and forum said it was the best overall gun for CCW, Home defense, and so on.
>3. What you carried after
Glock 19
>4. What you carry now
Glock 19
>5. What you might carry in the future
Glock 19, maybe a 17 since the grip is easier to grab onto when drawing

No matter how I try to justify it the Glock does the same job as everything else, everyone spergs about their steel frame guns or the next glock killer of this year (whether it was the M&P 3 years ago or the CZ p10 today). Either way you cut it as long as you arent an actual pussy who carries something smaller than a compact fullsize gun, the Glock 19 does everything you need it to do, and has been doing it longer than anything else.

I hate Glock suckers who are faggots about this fact, but it is what it is, theres a reason militaries and special forces around the world use it in the quantities they do, and theres a reason people have to the mental gymnastics they do on gun channels and forums now to defeat the glock, whether it be comparisons or petty complaints about tupperware.

There are pistols that do the same job as the glock yeah, and I like shooting them too, but when it comes down to it the glock already does it so theres no reason for me to actually buy any of those pistols much less carry them.

The PPS was awesome. The weight helps to mitigate recoil, I liked it way more than the G43 I had.

The striker indicator feature was great. Piece of mind for reholstering AIWB. It moves rearward as the trigger is depressed.

you just put your thumb on the rear of the slide like you would with a DA/SA, if anything is caught in the trigger guard, you can feel the striker protruding and prevent it from moving further. It should be standard in all striker fired guns

>theres a reason militaries and special forces around the world use it in the quantities they do,
Police and military weapons are issued to the literal lowest common denominator whose operators are just above the literacy line
Glocks are favored because they have one control and a trigger and are cheap because the last thing you want is to have a paste-eating mutant with barely a GED and no mechanical inclination trying to figure out which lever is the decocker on a P226 and shooting himself in the groin
The point of a competitive gun market is not to "kill" the glock, but to offer something more than a square handgun with awful stock parts and $.03 sights.
I'd say HK, FN, and especially SIG have brought more innovation to the polymer handgun market in the past 5 years than Glock did

Never challenged that fact, but the fact that the glock is cheap and good enough for the military to use it should be a good example of its quality, hell people dont knock the beretta, or Browning hi power for the fact that they themselves were also low common denominators, I have a mess kit that I have used on every camping trip of my life that was surplus, it too was the lowest common denominator, but its worked for the past 20 years so it doesnt have to be cutting edge.

>Glocks are favored because they have one control and a trigger and are cheap because the last thing you want is to have a paste-eating mutant with barely a GED and no mechanical inclination trying to figure out which lever is the decocker on a P226 and shooting himself in the groin
You act like working a decocker is rocket science, it isnt. but simplicity isnt exactly a negative either like youre leading on.

>>
>>35112516
>The point of a competitive gun market is not to "kill" the glock, but to offer something more than a square handgun with awful stock parts and $.03 sights.
If its not to kill it then its sure as hell to take its market share, since literally 90% of the guns introduced now are polymer, striker fired, double stack, nine millimeters, that most of the time claim either to have a better trigger, sights, or grip/ grip texture, and almost none of them are actually that different, aside from the sights, which while they are literal plastic they do work and ive been doing racks off my belt with my stock sights for 4 years and never had an issue, if they break i have 1000s of manufacturers who sell back up ones, im not buying a new gun just for better sights, or a trigger thats half a pound different, or a grip that they say feels different but only really comes down to what youve shot more.

>I'd say HK, FN, and especially SIG have brought more innovation to the polymer handgun market in the past 5 years than Glock did

VP9: charging supports, don't need to press the trigger to disassemble
FNX: one of the first to offer RMR mounting on a production pistol, long before MOS
P320: modular FCG, so you can own a compact, subcompact, and full size duty in one gun

No, simplicity isn't a con, however in 3 generations, Glock hasn't changed their product line at all. In a world where you're actually competing with people who've been making polymer handguns long before you (HK), it's asinine to not incorporate features people want to see into newer generations.
The problem is that they sacrifice modularity for simplicity for the express purpose of marketing their handguns to people who don't want to know how their gun works, don't want to clean it, don't want any features beyond going boom.
In a world where modular grip panels, serialized modular FCGs, full-cock strikers, OEM factory tritium, flush-fit mags, and forward serrations exist, glock is woefully out of date
90% of the aftermarket for glocks is adding options that could come from the factory far easier

>VP9: charging supports, don't need to press the trigger to disassemble
charging supports are nice but they seem to want to crack more than people claim glock sights do, and if you are uncomfortable dryfiring a cleared gun to dis-assemble it you need to re-evaluate your priorities.

>FNX: one of the first to offer RMR mounting on a production pistol, long before MOS

FNS, not FNX is what I was talking about, second of all, if you think the FNX is to be the first gun with a red dot on it you need to look back a bit.

>P320: modular FCG, so you can own a compact, subcompact, and full size duty in one gun
Only one I agree with, based on the modular FCG alone I can see why the Gov't picked it, but other than that its a glock with a high bore axis, it doesnt do much different and most people will find little use for anything outside the compact gun size, I could make the sig drop joke but Im not going for low hanging fruit

>No, simplicity isn't a con, however in 3 generations, Glock hasn't changed their product line at all. In a world where you're actually competing with people who've been making polymer handguns long before you (HK), it's asinine to not incorporate features people want to see into newer generations.

You mean like theyve done with all the generations? either people complain they did nothing or they did too much, and that kind of annoys me. They have you front slide serrations on the gen 4 like every screamed for, along with metal sights on said model. RMRs like every cried for on almost every fullsize gun they offer, people whined about the grip, gen4 gave ya back straps, gen 5 game they took way the finger grooves because everyone took them off with dremels, they gave you a mag funnel because people wanted it, and they gave you a better sight picture as well as a fucking cut out in the front of the grip to yank out the mag because idiots kept putting buttplugs in the damn grip making it impossible to yank it out like intended.

You got it mixed up HK is competing with them, they would have never made a striker fired gun at the time they did for the pricepoint they did, at the shitty quality they did if it werent to compete specifically with the glock. Theyd just keep making the same hammer fired 1000 dollar guns same as always if they didnt see a market share they wanted a piece of.

>marketing their handguns to people who don't want to know how their gun works
wait so simple is too simple? I dont understand what you want here.

>In a world where modular grip panels, serialized modular FCGs, full-cock strikers, OEM factory tritium, flush-fit mags, and forward serrations exist, glock is woefully out of date

Glock has modular grip panels, tritium sights, and forward serrations ready from the factory though.

and how the hell does a flush fit mag make a gun out of date? how does that impede the function of what a gun does to kill something? if anything a mag thats not flush helps positive insertion and extraction when theres a malfunction.

also how the fuck is the glock out of date when there are people still carrying 1911s and revolvers every damn day?

>90% of the aftermarket for glocks is adding options that could come from the factory far easier
>aftermarket is bad
hmmmm Mossberg 500, Remington 870, AR 15, AKM, 1911, and remington 700 owners seem to relish in the fact that an aftermarket such as what it does exists. Yet only to people who Criticize glock does it become a negative...

>feel pretty good and natural
>Stop by target to get some soda
>Walk to food isles
>Past some mirrors
>"OH FUCK I'M PRINTING A LITTLE"
>Try not to spill spaghetti
>Try to get around people without them seeing my right side
>Go to self check out
>Fucking thing scans my item 3 times in a row. Need assistance
>Talk to attendant at odd angle.
>Got the fuck out
.
5. What you might carry in the future
I'm thinking of getting a PPS M2 since I put one on layaway at cabela's during their price mistake. After that, ebay gift cards, and rebate, comes out to 180 bucks.

Remember Anon that people notice first abnormal or nervous behavior. If you stay calm, you can print badly and people won't notice.

It took me a while to adjust and be comfortable

holy shit yeah dude snag that PPS. Also soon you'll realize people haven no idea you are carrying.

You can open carry and most people literally will not see your gun.
>>
I wonder...are there any of you that carry a .25? Or even a .22?
>>
>>35108491
First-
S&W Victory.

It was cheap and my boss was afraid of my M1911

After.. A CZ-75.
Now A CZ-75.

In the future? Unless something better is invented, I'll carry a CZ-75.

If you get a good one you wont regret it.

Got an Auto Ordnance, Used mec-gar mags in it and its been 100% reliable post 350~ rounds

Accuracy is sub par but thats honestly how they were meant to be in my own opinion, not super tight nail drivers that need a 500 round break in just to work, and by the time the break in is over you have to replace the springs

Remington, aside from the finish seems good since they literally bought up para-ordnance to do their stuff, Auto ordnance and Armscor are also good budget brands.

I remember reading and watching youtube vid about staying calm, and I did try my best. I'm thinking of getting a better holster though. I was using those soft grippy holsters. they work fine if they stay in place, but the can move. Probably why I started printing a bit when I got into my car from costco to target. Only other holsters I have are OWB, and they don't even fit the beretta.

I'm also considering getting a smith and wesson cs9. Although it is more expensive (500 bucks), I have a whole lot more experience with da/sa than striker or sa. I don't like that it has a safety decocker instead of just a decoker though.
>>
>>35113484
Yes my friend, invest in a good iwb holster. Your confidence will increase 100% because they hold the gun in tight and conceal it well.
>>
>>35113205
TRP guy
Its absolutely marvelous. Shot a man sized tqrget at 100 yards today to get my fudder in law to shut the hell up. It really does make you a better marksman
>>
>>35113719
or maybe its the autistic obsession with firing the weapon whenever I can the that has caused such mastry. I honestly dont know
>>
>>35113484
Very few people will notice printing, and th very few who do will mostly be fellow travelers. AIWB is the way to go if you can become comfortable with carrying a gun pointed at your femoral artery.

A good holster and belt are necessary for any gun larger than an LCR.

First carry gun was a Beretta 92f
Then a Llama 1911 that broke on me the first time I went to the range.
FN-FNP-9
Off brand .38 spcl snub
Glock 37 (lol)
Bulgarian Makarov
Now I carry a Bersa Thunder plus

I like makarov/walther type guns the best for CC. The Bersa is pretty gud for a cheap gun. The FNP was one of the best pistols I've ever owned. I'd like to get another one of those or an FNX.
>>
>>35113016
yeah it definitely wasn't a bad pistol but it didn't do anything for me that the 19 did so much better. ive tried to carry another sig, and a cz to try and replace it but I keep going back to the 19, and have begrudgingly switched over to glocks as my main shooters since.

I still love shooting my other hand gats but glocks have become my workhorses.

>>
>1. Your first carry gun
glock 19
>2. Why you got it
got a Browning HI Power as my first pistol. Realized that I wouldn't really want to use it for self defense because some faggot cop would probably just take it for himself, decided to buy something that I don't care about too much. Didn't plan on carrying, but got a license for the hell of it. After doing some recording sessions out in Kensington (Philly) decided to get a holster and actually start wearing it.
>3. What you carried after
bought an LCP2 for pocket carry,
>4. What you carry now
Either one, depending on the day, what I'm wearing, what I'm doing and where I'm going.
>5. What you might carry in the future
>probably something with a steeper grip angle. I really don't like the g19 grip angle. M&P 2.0 compact, PX4 compact, FNS9, maybe P250. I need to rent it and have it really knock my socks off before i replace my Glock. I'm not really in a hurry to replace it either. It works just fine, but I bet there is something out there that will work better.

G43, and it still is the G43. It works really well for me.
Bought a g26 later and didn't like it as much.

I got one over 5 years ago but it's easy as fuck.
>1. Go to sheriff's office of whatever county you're in and ask for CCL paperwork.
It's a lot, but if it's a far drive you can do it all at once.
>2. Find gun shop and ask if they do CCL classes, or look around for people that do them
you might be able to find somewhere cheaper(some people do 75, but I've heard of some shops doing 150-200)
>3. You have to have 8 hours of class time(not including range time)
some places will shorten this up, but they're SUPPOSED to do the 8. This goes over a lot of use of deadly force laws in NC.
>4. Qualify at range.
Distances are 3,5, and 7 yards and I think it's 15 shots each and you have to get 37 shots ON A FULL SIZE SILHOUETTE so it's easy as fuck. You're almost touching the target at 3.
>5. Get certificate saying you passed
>6. Go to sheriff's with completed paperwork and certification or do paperwork now(it will ask for addresses for the last 10 or 5 years, I can't remember, but if you're military be ready for it)
>7. Wait 3 weeks to a month and receive CCL if nothing comes up that would bar you from having one.
>>
>>35119260
Also I would keep your registration and shit in a different spot then your glovebox in case you get pulled over to avoid unnecessary excitement.
>>
>>35108496

OP again, thanks! wish I had kept most of them however, hah. After researching lately I'm going with a .45 for my next piece, and carrying some Lehigh hard-cast copper rounds in it.

1) Your pic related, S&W 637
2) It was cheap! $380 got me a revolver new in box, with pink grips too! It's also very light and small, and made by a company rather well known for good revolvers.
3) S&W 360PD, Walther PPQ (too big omgwtf), Shield 45 (still quite big)
4) S&W 360PD
5) S&W 360PD, I'll also try carrying any pistol that I buy, but will only replace J-frame if it carries smaller than J-frame with clip grip, lighter than 12oz, and has greater energy than 357 Magnum. Not made yet, afaik.

1. A Ruger LCP

2. Cheap and was the perfect size to get used to carrying

3. Taurus PT111 Gen 2, because decent cap, fairly reliable, pretty cheap, and I don't give a shit if it gets all beat up

4. Still the PT111

5. Might try a S&W 66 or 686 Snub, maybe a Glock 30 or S&W Shield or M&P compact or something

I think we're all forgetting the objectively best CC pistol here.

Highly recommend the 66/686. Also suggest 586 L-Comp on the larger end, and model 60 performance center for a smaller option. S&W Shield is awesome, the new .45 one with the rough texture.

>>35120009
Obrez is objectively the best CC pistol here but we won't hear us admit it
