I want to believe it's a good gun.
>>
>>35104015
It is.
It's a legitimately good gun.
It's just not the legendary stuff it full of mud reliability that, let's face it, is physically impossible to do and still has a functioning firearm.

Kinda like the ARs accuracy.
You can get an AK to do damn near anything an AR will do until you start spending four times the value of your car on it.
It's more accurate than an AK, yeah, but it ain't the absurd legendary accuracy you hear about (not for something most peons can afford anyways)
>>
It's outdated. It's 1940s (arguably older) tech. The design is antiquated and it is unfair to compare it to newer, better engendered designs.
>>
>>35104015
it is
>>35104039
this i guess

Buy a $180 barrel and a free float handguard and if you do the work, you will shoot MOA or less with it.

We're talking about the ak here friend.
>>
>>35104015
Do you think it became the most famous weapon in the world because it isn't?

>inb4 just because it's popular doesn't mean it's good
>>
>>35104051
And most AKs can shoot 1.5-2.0 MOA out of the box.

The difference isn't that big.

the fact that 70 year old designs can still hold a candle to what's being produced today is impressive though

If /k/ starts shitting on the ak because of the mud test, I'm done with this board. That's just way too retarded for me too tolerate, for a variety of reasons.

The test shows nothing relating to reliability in real world conditions. The only thing it demonstrates is that the AR is better sealed against the elements... which anyone should know. Once the debris actually get into the tighter ar15 action, it's all over.

You can prove this by doing the following:

1. Testing with a variety of different media. Sand, muddy water, etc.

2. Testing with a longer exposure time. The AR shined because nothing made it inside.

3. Testing with real world conditions that could reasonably be encountered in real life, with a higher round count.

4. Something greater than a sample size of 1, with more variety.

And no, I'm not a Slav worshipper. I just love and appreciate both of these rifles. And this kind of thing means even less people will get into AK's , which is a damn shame. We need all the help we can get stateside.

Now neck yourselves, you /ARG/ faggots.
>>
>>35104039
>It's 1940s (arguably older) tech
and AR is 1950s tech, officially adopted in 60s.
What's your point?
>>
>>35104015
>it's a good gun

can't be done sorry

the ak47 design sprang from warped minds for ill intent from the beginning
>>
>>35104239
You must be new here
>>
>>35104273
So were you, but I assume you serve some useful purpose as well.
>>
>>35104015
It's a bunch of trashed shoved together so bullets come out one end if we're being honest.
>>
>>35104015
Easy to manufacture, relatively simple to maintain, sturdy, reliable, yet disposable because another can be made easily.

In general it is a good gun. Good for getting as many made as cheaply as possible and into the hands of commoners who only need a quick rundown and they can be sent off to defend the homeland. It did its job damn well.
>>
>>35104339
I'm curious how the AR15 differs in training? Does it take a long time to train on the rifle? What are the benefits of that?
>>
>>35104015
It does what it says on the tin (throw lead fast) and the commies made enough that mainenance is a breeze. Overall a solid personal weaoons system.

don't know much in depth on the m16 platforms from a mechanical standpoint but the reputation is that they are more complicated? are far as soldiers training goes.

Ak's were made for conscripts and farmers to be soldiers as soon as possible
M16's were made with intent of being used by trained military professionals
>>
It hasn't been used worldwide since it came out because it's a bad gun.

It's a simple, reliable design that anyone can use. Good rifles.
>>
>>35104603
From a purly mechanical viewpoint the M16 is slightly simpler than the AK, though in practice they're about the same. I think the reputation the AK gets for being the rifle best suited for untrained troops is mostly due to the soviets handing them out to any group of untrained rabble that said they wanted a socialist revolution.
>>
>>35104635
The amount of maintenance and tiny bits on an AR make it practically unsuitable for any kind of conscript army or militia. They'd be beaten to death in no time. Not to mention the numerous problems that could arise if you use wrong kind of ammo / gunpowder with an AR.

AKs have very few moving parts, and all the parts are fairly big and sturdy. There's nothing extra. And they also eat just about any kind of ammo that's roughly the right size.
>>
>>35104655
The AK was designed for WW3. They spread the technology like spores and the still live on causing problems for the West, and Russia. A testament to the design and more importantly the philosophy.
>>
>>35104655
Denmark has a conscript army and uses ARs
>>
>>35104517
>Swiss AKs and shoot 1.5moa
yes
>>
>>35104655
The ar was literally designed for, and first adopted by, an army with a great number of conscripts
