Past 20 inches you start to get diminishing results. Anything from 10.5 to 20 inches is good depending on what you're using it for and anything outside that range is just stupid.

i'd REALLY like to test that theory. i'm almost certain if you had an extended gas tube setup, you'd see better performance out of a 24in barrel. i think if you decreased the dwell time, you'd get a hair better performance. the only barrel i've found online for an extended setup is for a 26in barrel.
