It is my understanding that most of the syrian air defenses were concentrated around the golan heights and were in some state of disrepair before the war started. Russian deployed s-300 and s-400s around their base in latakia after turkey downed one of their planes, but that is for defense of russian air craft and is manned by russians.

Its my understanding that the Israelis know where all the syrian s-200 launchers are at, and can skirt around them pretty effectively.

Yes Israels position has significantly improved due to the Syrian civil war. 15 years ago bordering Israel were 2 large non state actors and 2 countries that wanted israel dead. Now there Is one tiny nonstate actor (hamas), one large state actor (hezzbollah), and no countries. Plus Hezzbollah has gained experience in fighting a convential war, but they have bled out almost all of their people experienced in unconventional warfare. If Hezzbollah tries a stand up fight against Israel, they will be slaughtered. So even Hezzbolah's position has weakened.

Now maybe, possibly in the future, Iran can provide sufficient arms and material to make up the losses, but as of right now Israel is sitting pretty, and laughing at all the Muslims that have killed each other. The reason you are completely incapable of seeing this, is you came in with a pro Assad and an antisemitic view, and thus no matter what happens so long as Assad wins, the Jews lose! Even if the total amount of firepower threatening Isreal has been reduced (which it has), even if the total number of soldiers threatening Israel is reduced (which is has), even if the enemy supply chains are more stretched and less reliable (which they have become), you will never be able to see it.

Unlike Assad Israel fought all their wars on their own. Assad is heavily relient on foreign fighters from half a dozen countries and Russian air force against a bunch of guerrilas. While Israel with a fraction of Syria's population won multiple wars against multiple arab opponents at the time relying on the IDF alone. They have recieves logistic support from the US.
At the same time Arabs were gettibg 3 times the logistic support as well as Russians advisors, SAMs and fighters.

Also the war in general is dying down, at least in terms of content to discuss coming out of it. Other than the DeZ race (and Raqqa race just before, although that was rather more onesided since SAA realised too late they needed to make an effort in the east to block SDF) there is little news or indeed interest left anymore. Until the last year it was an almost constantly dynamic conflict where you never knew who was going to focus forces where to make a push/regain territory/repel an attack against the odds, now there are few actors left with the capability to carry out anything other than local actions and for the time being they're still roughly aligned with each other (SAA+friends/SDF). Additionally there's much less propaganda coming out to act as talking points about the actual fighting, IS's guys that produced so many videos are all mulling the aftertaste of a JDAM/7.62 to the head, and the various Idlib factions have little to post about either, they're mostly just laying low waiting for their turn to die once SAA swing back from the east.

So we're left with little news to talk over, other than those that want to post /pol/ in which case they'll never shut up.

Whilst there are quite a lot of guys in Syria it's still imperitive to avoid large numbers of dead ones being shipped back to the US since that's a great way to turn public opinion against anything, which in turn limits how much use they can be in actually taking part in combat. That leaves the main option for the US in terms of directly helping Kurds being to bomb the fuck out of anywhere that shows any signs of resistance, hence you get a whole lot of airstrikes when taking over a city.

Russia has no desire to pick a fight with Israel so isn't going to be holding Assads hand, and Syria has essentialy no way to protect itself since the remnants of their air force consists of ancient Soviet exports held together with equal parts inshallah and duct tape that would get raped trying to engage anything modern, and their ground based defenses aren't really in any better shape.
