Salomons or bust nigga. But beware. Waterproof shoes don't dry very fast if you get water inside from river crossing or just being a sweaty greasy mofo. So if you're doing the Pacific crest trail just use some simple trail running shoes.

A couple of years with one resole. I like these much better than my Danners because of the thick polyurethane mid sole and considerably less weight.

I also rock a pair of Moab mid's when I don't feel like I need a taller boot.

I'm currently testing out some waterproof merrel moab mids. I hike 6+miles 2-4 days a week. I've been using the merrels since January. I replaced the insoles with Superfeet Trail. So far they are holding up amazing. There are some chunks of tread missing(where I hike is very rocky) but there's been no separation of the toe cap or any failures of stitching.

Might try out a pair of the new Merrel 8" tactical boot next.

I also use them on an every other day basis to work because they are pretty damn comfortable with the right pair of liners and wool socks.

Solomon GTX because I was told it's what many actual operators use. All in all, not a bad boot. Actually it's more like a crosstraining sneaker and a boot had a baby. It's way lighter and more comfortable than the Belleveue boots I was issued a decade ago.
