what are /k/'s thoughts on pocket pistols? I'm getting a ruger lcp soon because it has a good deal on it. some people say just save up to get a full size but i feel better having something in my pocket so hidden, plus most places i visit are against open carry

Pfft. Tiny guns are gay. Get the smart carry holster and a real gun.
>>35092985
I carry one when at work.
Some shot great, some don't. Get a fullsize to learn to shoot on or you WILL build bad habits.

they are fine as long as you don't expect a range toy, it is made to get the job done not to be comfortable or particularly accurate beyond 10 yards. My concealed carry is an LCP and I am very happy with it
>>35092985
Lcp has a really shitty trigger; makes to be accurate hard.
>>35093936
the gen 2 improved on it a lot and is more than enough for defensive shooting. i dont know what the lcp2 trigger is like
Best gun is the one you have on you. I carry a .32 or a .380 the size of an LCP during the summer, or even in cold weather if I don't want to bother with a belt holster.

Just carry a large feather to tickle your adversary with..It would be more effective!
>>35092985
Get an LC9
Its only slightly bigger and 9x19 is infinitely better than .380

been carrying an lcp for 3 years now in pocket nemesis holster. its great if its too hot to carry a fullsize.
naa mini revolver with gold dot 22 mag. ballistics similar to 32acp, good for deep conceal, it would get the job done with good placement up close. Never cared for lcp or most 380 as a secondary or occasional solo.carry when you can't carry your main.
They're wonderful for when you're "not supposed to carry" or when it's balls hot and you want to dress light.
I carry an LCP II at work where we're specifically not allowed to carry. I don't trust our manlet security guards and no one has to know.

>tfw no redhawk
Right now, I can only afford one handgun. Do I get a full size or a subcompact? Because I have my ccw, I've chosen a subcompact because I can carry it in most situations. Double stacks are great but are not conducive to bike rides or deep concealment.
I unironically want pic related for when a p938 is too large. Too bad you can't shoot all 4 at once... production started in august I believe

DO NOT buy a pocket pistol until you have a full size or at least mid size (glock 19) pistol and at LEAST 1500 rounds through it (and that's on the low side)
It will suck to shoot, you will develop bad habits and it will make you hate shooting, and if god forbid you have to use it you will end up spraying stray bullets all over the place.
Learn the basics first, even if it means you can't carry as often, then get a pocket pistol to fill those gaps, but do not buy one until you can shoot a pistol properly first. I run the Glock 19 + LCPII combo and I generally try to make my glock as comfortable as possible and only wear my LCP if I absolutely have to.

Start on a full size. If you want something you can carry you can get a mid size. Glock 19, CZ P-10, CZ P-07, Beretta PX4, Ruger American Compact, USP Compact (if you can afford it), or Sig P250 (not 320)
Get something that will allow you to actually train good habits with and then buy a holster that will make it work, a pocket pistol is NOT what you want to start out with.

You have a good point, although I would argue that either a sig p238 or Glock 42 would be a good compromise between shoot ability and size. The soft recoil shouldn't imbue any bad habits compared to a G43 or j frame.
I've been shooting for awhile which is why I've made the choice to get a p938 over a doublestack. I'm adept at shooting the small guns as I've owned an LCR, SP101, Glock 42, Glock 43, PPS M2 and a G26, but you are correct, these small guns take a lot of practice to master. I'm of the mind that the gun you have with you is far superior to one left in the truck or on the nightstand. There are soft shooting mouseguns but they are few and far between.
So yes, if you are a beginner, get a full size gun and learn it well. If you have a carry permit and can only afford one gun, I'd look at the G26 sized guns, i.e. P30sk, MP 9c, and perhaps the p238 or Glock 42 if you prefer to pack light and are in need of a deep concealment piece.

get the lcp2 it has better trigger
oh and try shooting it before you buy the recoil is stout
>>35093045
This would make my huge dick even harder to conceal.

I subscribe to the thought of "small enough to carry, big enough to fight with" so I carry a Glock 26 because they fit my baby hands just fine. I couldn't hit shit with a rental LCR from my local range but the are comfortable guns to shoot and conceal really well
LCP is usually picky with ammo, if you do get it stick to Federal ammo. LCP was my first gun ever, and I hated it so I got the LC9S, much better but then I wanted something bigger so I got the G19 and fell in love with it and shooting it so it's all I carry. I made my glock19 very comfortable to carry. I'll post my glock EDC and I'll show you my Ruger LC9S edc set up that I never carry.

Here is how I would carry my LC9S, appendix mexicarry just like my glock, this thing literally disappears when carried this way, but I just always carry the glock instead as it's almost equally as comfortable to carry as this. I wouldn't bother with the LCP, the only reason I haven't sold it is because it's sentimental value being my first gun ever.
