Here's how to check, OP. Load a round into the chamber, and retake this picture while pulling the trigger. If you see a light, this is a factory-installed feature that let's you know that your gun is working. I hope this helps!

It's not just that it isn't helpful. The bigger issue with your post is that it's not witty, clever or anyway funny. It's just mindless parroting of the too often posted, "hurr kys".
Are you the same fag that posts every 2 seconds about how Glocks explode and SIGs rust? You are at best a pedantic individual but more likely a complete moron.

>>35092483
It had some blemishes in the finish which I was okay with but the barrel is over to the side of the opening and it looks like the front of the slide may have been put in a vice. WTF?
>>
>>35092588
bought it from a large reputable shop. I'm thinking it didn't pass Beretta QC so they banged and ground on it just enough to get it to function.

I'll go shoot it tomorrow and see if it's on target at least. I bought it as a project gun, to upgrade and tinker and won't be okay with a sub standard iteration.

Those sights are pressed in at the factory with a precise jig.

They're centered. If you group left or low left it's you and not the sights.

It's the barrel alignment with the slide I was questioning and actually the front sight is not perfectly centered in it's dovetail. It is to the left less than a millimeter though. The barrel in relation to the slide port is to the right about 1.5 to 2mm by my estimation.
I guess it's normal spec as many have pointed out but for a gun I want to build up it's going to irritate me. I'll shoot it tomorrow.

Oh, I just bought a used beretta and traded it in on this new one because I wanted a really good model and the used one had some dings. The attached picture was at 10 yards. The barrel was centered on this one. I remember looking at it because it was when it dawned on me that the barrel doesn't lock up to the slide at all.
>>
>>35092935
>>35093019
Actually, more than the dings, I wanted the dovetail front sight for night sights. Probably because of the dovetail the metal is thicker on the slide and the gap, slide to barrel, is smaller which probably makes the error a lot more pronounced looking. Maybe the other one wasn't as centered as I thought.

Thanks BOOF et al.

Anyone else having trouble feeding hollowpoints into the M9? My hollowpoints keep plowing straight into the feed ramp of the barrel.

I'm going to test mine tomorrow; not expecting a problem.

Sig v-crowns and Hornady Flex-locks
>>
>>35093596
Hmm, got no experience with those I'm afraid, the Speer Gold Dot and Federal HST I've run through my 92 has performed flawlessly though
>>
>>35093596
V crowns feed in my m9 fine
>>
>>35093596
the v crowns, aside from from being shitty ammo, have a very large opening for the hollow point which I could see causing issues with feeding in some guns. However, that's not the case with the flex-locks.

First thing is to check your magazine. Verify that the issue occurs across multiple magazines. If you can narrow down to only one magazine then bent feed lips or a bad spring are likely to blame. This is most often the culprit. Otherwise you can polish the feed ramp and make sure you're rails are properly lubed. Beyond that I'd say take it to a gunsmith.
>>
>>35093794
>>35093786
Well, I've come to a conclusion.
On the V-crowns, most of the time the nose of the round is impacting the shelf right below where the feed ramp on the barrel begins. The same thing happens with the Flex-Locks but only half as often. My guess is that it's a mix of the feed-lip angle on the mags and maybe a lack of break-in. I just got this pistol and will shoot it Saturday. Aside from that, it feeds FMJ's just fine, of course.

Should I add additional lubrication to the followers? I'll try to see what happens after 200 FMj rounds. Maybe the feed ramp will do something, or maybe not.

Don't lube your mags.
Earlier I suggested making sure your rails are lubed. Some guns, if the tolerances are tight, if you use too much grease or try to run them dry for example, the slide doesn't cycle with enough force.

Don't put lube in your magazine though.

Op here

After reading, I took a tiny little bit of metal off of the one side of the locking block using 1500 grit sand paper. It seems to have helped, still not perfectly centered but I don't want to make any drastic changes to contact services.

I tried hard to take an in focus picture.

I have some grease on the rails, albeit just a small amount of Jardine's. Thanks for the warning though, I'll have to go to the range now and see if 200 rounds of FMJ will impact my HP feeding ability.
>>
>>35097063
>>35097093
Let me get this straight. You haven't even shot the gun yet, but you are doing work to it? How about you fucking shoot the gun first before you start hacking away on it you dumb fuck.
>>
Stop modding it! Not before you shoot it and see if you can adjust with rear sights. By grinding or sanding parts you are introducing slop into the action which would decrease accuracy depending on the part, a less tight lockup. Let the parts wear in on their own. Just because visually off center does not always mean doesn't shoot straight. All it may take is adjusting rear sight. What if the bore appears off center, but so is the slide cutout in the opposite direction? At the least, don't ruin your chance to return / exchange it because you ground on it.
>>
Here's a thought: what if you are judging the barrel to be off center in the opening of the slide because the opening is actually not a concentric circle? As in, what if it just lets more light through on one side? If enough points make contact it doesn't matter as long as the lockup is satisfactory at the muzzle.
>>
>>35097483
Talking a couple hundreds of an inch at the most.
Just got done at range and did not shoot that well but I think it was just an off day, was getting 3-4" groups at 10 yards and shooting a little low.

>>35097650
Figured worse case I'd just order a new locking block but you're right. Also gun does not shoot to the side.

Checked it out and it was all kinds of off center. Like slide rubbing barrel on one side.

Passed on it.
>>
>>35098423
Riiight
>>
>>35099548
So, is there any "best" ammo for a beretta 92a1?

I took mine to the range today and it fed everything from 147gr hard cast +p, to hornady critical defense to Federal 115gr FMJ without any kind of issue whatsoever at all. I shot terribly though, 100% my fault without a doubt. I was just having a shit day but is there a most accurate ammo for this gun that you know of?
>>
>>35102835
I've shot so many different kinds of ammo through mine I couldn't possible list them. Ejection is a little wonky with shitty steel cases stuff and aluminum cases go flying, but it feeds everything and is accurate with everything. I regularly shoot Speer Lawman 124gr TMJ and it's a wicked accurate pistol.
>>
So I just got into my Beretta itch. I like my M9 commercial despite the Bruniton having flaked out of the box in some places.
What should I go for next? Somehow find a 92SB?

Will a 14lb spring reliably cycle light 115gr loads?
13lb is factory standard.
Advantages of 14lb spring? Apparently it's a common mod.

>>
>>35108111

>>
>>35102835
If you're looking for high-accuracy, it's better to accurize the gun to take advantage of the match grade ammo.
>>
>>35109145
No clue how you would accurize a 92.
I already ordered the following:
>Wilson combat grips
>D-spring
>Wilson Combat Steel Guide Rod
>Wolff 13 and 14lb recoil springs

I might do more but not sure what?
>>
>>35093292

Go to Beretta forum.
Search "barrel bushing".

Honestly, pretty much any modern gun of even modest quality is more accurate than most shooters. Accurize yourself before you go messing around with your gun.

Who here EDC a full size?
>>
>>35109209
A fully accurized consists of:

- Frame rail inserts
- Match grade barrel
- Barrel bushing
- Internal barrel stabilizer
- <4lbs trigger job
- Target sights

...Almost everything is going to have to be precisely machined, so it's not like you can just slap on off-the-shelf parts and call it good.
