p2000skmag-p30skmag.jpg
1MB, 2000x1333px
Requirements:
DA/SA
Hammer Fired
Capacity of at least 10 rounds
9mm

So far I've boiled it down to the p30sk, p2000sk, and maybe stretch the size I want for a p229.

I carry a p226 currently as it is getting colder now, but know I'll need something more practical next year once it gets hot. Opinions welcome.
>>
>>35087364
>DA/SA
>Hammer Fired

but why
>>
>>35087364
I love my P2000 and would love to get a P2000sk or a P30sk next.

Before I bought the P2k, I carried a P239. It was a cool gun, but for the size it was it should have held more than 8+1 rounds of 9mm. Still a pretty cool gun and a bit slimmer than the other offerings, but not by much. Which is why I went with the P2K, it was roughly the same size as the P239.

>>35087373
Because they're superior to striker guns.
>>
>>35087393
>they're superior to striker guns
my nigger

>>35087364
I'd say the P30SK just because my experience with the L was amazing. Nothing wrong with the P2k though
>>
>>35087373
After all my training, I am just more comfortable with it. I like being able to ride the hammer down when I re holster so I can feel any pull on the trigger, such as clothes or anything else pulling it. I'm also just more comfortable with them, and do not want a safety on a concealed carry, so it gives me the best of everything imo.

>>35087393
I agree that the p239 should carry more for it's size, that's why I disqualified it. It really is looking like one of those two HKs.

>>35087422
That's good to know thanks.

I should also say I really want a mounted light on the one I choose. I was disappointed to learn that the xc1 doesn't fit on p30sk. I'm not sure if it fits on the p2000sk though. Not a deal breaker but something to seriously consider.
>>
>>35087448
Would the APLc work? I prefer it over the XC1 in nearly every way. It's pretty nice
>>
>>35087364
It pisses me off how little there is by way of DA/SA compact/subcompact handguns. I love my P226, but carrying it can be a chore in the summer, especially in Philly where carrying openly is pretty taboo.
>>
>>35087364
>>35087364
I'm a big fan of the p2000sk. DA/SA is my preference as well
>>
>>35087364
there's also the CZ Rami, tho i don't have personal experience with it
>>
>>35087364
P-01, P-07, Rami, all fit your criteria
>>
>>35087646
Yep CZ P-01 is golden. Would also recommend the Beretta Px4, Springfield XDE. But with any of the HK hammer fired you're set
>>
>>35087364
There's also the Sig P6, basically a West German P225 you can find for $450
>>
>>35087364
Cz rami
>>
Sounds like you want an HK
I would recommend the P30SK over the P2000SK for a more hand filling grip & front serrations
The CZ P-01 is another nice option but look into different grips since it comes with rubberized ones that can kinda snag
sights may be subjective, but I like the stock P30SK's way more than the stock P-01's
>>
>>35087364
Get the P2000sk, but also look into the P290rs
>>
>>35087609
It really frustrates me too. I carried it this summer as I really had no other choice. It was an interesting battle trying to dress around it, but not something I want to do again everyday. I would never open carry. What do you carry in the summer?
>>35087509
APLc is interesting. Does not seem to fit either of the HKs but I need to research it more. I prefer the paddle type lights, so I can activate it with my support hand thumb. Any light that I have to use my trigger finger to activate is disqualified. I don't know if the APLc is like that.
>>35087612
Thanks for the opinion. Any reason you favor it over the other options?
>>35087625
>>35087646
>>35087853
I will be trying out those this weekend if I can get my hands on them. My friend has a P-01 and loves it. The Rami is a great shout, I never considered it.
>>35087768
8 rounds and no rail pretty much disqualifies it, but it is a great gun.
>>35087859
Thanks, if the p30sk fits my hand well then it may be my choice. And front serrations aren't a meme, they do help if you do press checks I agree.
>>
>>35087859
>I would recommend the P30SK over the P2000SK for a more hand filling grip & front serrations

God /k/s opinion are so fucking stupid. You want the gun to be as thin as possible so the P2000 is way better for that and front serrations serve no useful purpose.
>>
>>35087364
Whats a good p2000sk price?
>>
>>35087915
9mm DA/SA specifically

>>

>>
>>35087364
What did you carry this past summer? The reason I ask is because people don't realize the subcompacts aren't much different than the compact guns, so when summer comes they never really carry them. 6-8 rounds on your hip is more than 10 rounds in the drawer.
>>
>>35087894
Also, this would be an excellent choice if I wanted a pocket carry. That would be a future purchase for me though.
>>35087908
They aren't useless. Press checks with front creations are easier. If that isn't something you do then yes its useless to you.
>>35087939
Another vote for the P-01, looks nice.
>>35087955
Carried my p226 or my duty Glock 21 on the rare occasion it was raining and I had a big coat on or something. So that was pretty much the 226 or 21 every, fucking, day. I learned that a great belt, the right clothes, and dedication can help you to carry almost anything, but I can't do that next year. I'm guessing that the step down to the guns we are talking about would be easy enough for me. But I agree, its better to have something then nothing at all.
>>
>>35087986
>Also, this would be an excellent choice if I wanted a pocket carry. That would be a future purchase for me though.

You can carry it with 8 rounders, you seem to want a hammer and I probably know why. The fact is there are few hammer fired CC weapons out there.

>They aren't useless. Press checks with front creations are easier. If that isn't something you do then yes its useless to you.

You don't need front serrations for a press check, and press checks are silly anyway.

>Carried my p226 or my duty Glock 21 on the rare occasion it was raining and I had a big coat on or something. So that was pretty much the 226 or 21 every, fucking, day. This is what I figured. You will ahve the same problem with all doublestack guns, its not the height or length, its the width that gets you.

You should be looking for a single stack. get the tweener gun later.
>>
>>35087364
I just picked up a P229 Elite for a buck shy of $1K - I've carried it for two weeks now in a Bianchi holster an the only real conplaint I have is that reholstering isn't as smooth as I'd like it to be.

It barely prints if I'm only wearing a tshirt and it's a damn nice shooter. It's not much of a difference in size to the 226 - 10/10 would recommend
>>
>>35088103
>press checks are silly
Again, the really aren't. And front cerrations make it easier, not possible. I will say that if you holster when cc and never take your gun out, then yes it can be silly. But if you have to remove your gun sometimes, press checks are not stupid. There are times it is necessary or advantageous for me but agree to disagree I guess.
>its not the height or length, its the width that gets you
I will take this on board. Barrel length and height do make a difference to me when I'm driving or moving around. My buddy is going to let me try out some of these with holsters to see if it really will make a difference. But I have pretty large hands, and usually don't shoot very small guns well.
>>35088155
Nice congrats. My only problem with the 229 is I don't want to buy another gun that is almost the same size. Safariland/Bianchi make fine holsters and gear.
>>
>>35088245
Why would you press check your gun when you take it out of the holster? Why would you take it out of the holster without shooting it? It sounds like you just don't know how to use your guns.

>But I have pretty large hands, and usually don't shoot very small guns well.

Those two have no bearing on each other. I have a USP45 that fits in my large palms nicely. I can still get accurate shots with my J-frame even though its way to small for my hands.

look into the P290 and actually hold and dry fire it. It has a long grip to make it fill your hands better.
>>
>>35088278
>Why would you take it out of the holster without shooting it
I frequently have to go through court, or through other points where disarming is required.
>sounds like you just don't know how to use your guns

>>
>>35088308
>I frequently have to go through court, or through other points where disarming is required.

Ok? leave it in your holster like you are supposed to and take the holster off. A loaded and unholstered gun is dangerous. Every time you handle your gun you increase your risk of ND. In fact most police NDs happen when holstering and drawing their guns.

>>sounds like you just don't know how to use your guns
>Ok bud.

You don't if you think that constantly holstering your gun over and over is a good idea.
>>
>>35088377
Agreed it is retarded, and also agreed most police NDs happen when holstering and drawing. But its not my choice, its SOP. Some checkpoints let you remove your holster like is fucking logical, some don't. I'm not disagreeing with you.
>>
>>35088433
Why can't you just remove your holster? Why do you have to press check? You know these guns have LCI right?
>>
>>35088506
I can't because they are fucking retarded, its that simple. People who make rules for shit they don't understand. I press check to make sure I have a loaded chamber and no one fucked with my gun that I just left, if it is still loaded. I know they have LCI, but just like you wouldn't trust an unloaded indicator to make sure your gun was unloaded, I don't trust solely a LCI to make sure my gun is loaded. I want to see it for myself, unless for some reason I'm in the dark, then a tactile LCI is a good thing I guess.
>>
>>35088563
I see now, I still never had a problem with press checking my USPs if I had too.

Another vote for P2k. I traded my PPQ for a V1. Capacity of only 13+1 is a bit disappointing, but it fits my hands perfectly. A P2ksk should be fine for you. You can get X-grips to use full size mags if yoy need a full grip on your backup mag.

>So far I've boiled it down to the p30sk, p2000sk, and maybe stretch the size I want for a p229.

Of course you may ask. Not just capacity. It is ultimately down to my training. I am far more familiar with semi-autos and have trained with them more. It comes down to training.
>>
>>35092353
The hammer is half cocked after you use the decocker. Look at how far the hammer protrudes from the back of the slide when you use the decocker compared to dry firing it. The half cock probably just has less play than when it is completely uncocked.
>>
>>35091560
Lol, you need a light to properly use your gun in the dark. Unless of course you hate following rule 4. Regardless, buy once cry once. 60 dollars for that shitty light is a waste of money, at least get a TLR-4 or an inforce if you are cheap.. Streamlights aren't expensive, stop being a poorfag.

PPS is the best striker fired SS, bar none. Plus, th striker protrudes from the rear of the slide. What this means is that you can put your thumb on the slide, like a DA, and if the trigger is pressed, you can feel the striker protruding and stop the movement. It should be standard on all striker fired pistols

>>35097260
> put your thumb on the slide, like a DA, and if the trigger is pressed, you can feel the striker protruding and stop the movement
I'm not knowledgeable about this mechanic but it sounds extremely dangerous and I wouldn't consider it.
>>35097334
What people think is a "better trigger" isn't really as objective as that. People want different things in a trigger, which is why there are so many different options. But I think the shield is miles away from being "the best striker fired ss bar none". Its a great gun though. That being said I haven't shot the PPS yet so can't comment on it's trigger.
>>35097885
Zero creep and a clean break isn't the only thing some people are looking for in a self defense handgun. It also doesn't have zero creep, and hinged triggers suck in my opinion. That's the same reason I'd never carry a ppq, although for target shooting it has an amazing trigger.
>>35097573
Agreed.
>>
>>35097961
Factory grease would make the trigger better not worse you dumbfuck. It was stagey and had way too much over travel. Grease wont even effect that part.
>>
>>35097573
Look at pic related, it will protrude as the trigger is activated, meaning that you can prevent accidental trigger activation if something gets caught in the trigger guard while reholstering. It's like putting your thumb on a DA hammer essentially.
