Personally I'd go with the heavy 45 all the way I could always put 230 grain bullets in there for suppressor use or the plus p 185 grain ammo for self-defense. I could also put some 230 grain hard cast 45 super bullets in there for the woods of course I would have to use the H&K USP handguns for that. All that makes the 45 how much more versatile option then the 9mm the 9 mm only allows you to use it for self defense against human beings.

Defense, any will get the job done. 9mm used to be a little weak, but modern JHP loads are plenty effective.

For CC, I'd definitely take 9mm, because you'd get the best capacity out of smaller frame guns.

I'd take .45 it's naturally subsonic, you'd have to downgrade .40 and 9mm loads to get rid of supersonic crack. You lose power and penetration. With .45 you don't have to worry about the crack with standard loads, and you retain most of it's power

For military, they're constrained to FMJ only, and there's stories about the standard 115gr 9mm nato loading being ineffective. So idk, maybe they should upgrade to .40 or .45

The answer is: doesn't fucking matter unless it has 10mm or 357mag ballistics. That's the point at which it can kill large animals. Before that they all can kill humans at close range no problem.
