On the internet, nobody knows you're a poorfag. Take DR8C0 for example, he was some underageb& spic that kept breaking the law and trying to committ insurance fraud, lived in a truck, and yet he had the audacity to call others poorfags. Even someone like me who barely makes $20k a year can still afford nice guns if I save up.

I consider the two almost a wash. T3X CTR is a very nice rifle for the price and so is the HMR.

I might give the HMR +1 point for using common AICS clips, +1 point for adjustable stock and +1 point for using Remington 700 pattern triggers and scope bases, but if those things don't matter, the CTR is a really well made, smooth rifle that doesn't really need any modification.

tl;dr I like it a lot for the money.

The lower is trigger housing, who cares.
The upper is where the magic happens. In particular with the FAL, it goes through some stresses that can wear an upper out. The early DSA uppers were made by LMT, and are incredibly well made.

If youre counting optic cost in the price, its pretty easy to get over $2k. For example, basic colt 6920 + acog and youre pretty much there.
On the other hand, if dont include optics, wheres the line? No accessories? No supressor?
i think $3k with optic would be a better criteria

My photo.

The biggest reason is mirrage.

I do a lot of prairiedog hunting.

After about 5 shots the mirrage is a problem. After 15 shots it can be hard to see a target. After 30 or 40. With out a wrap you cant see though the scope to the target.

The solution is a wrap or yo wait a long time between shots.

As it is i shoot 2 or 3 shots a min. My barrel will be fine but the can is blistering

Anon, in case you didn't get the memo, that name stopped meaning anything not just after the moment John decided seatbelts were for scrubs, but also when everyone and their dog was able to pump out milspec components, FF rail systems, and quality barrels. This is why your AR looks like any of the 3000 sub-$1000 builds on this board, while costing twice as much.

You also need to know that slapping a Noveske upper on an Aero lower, having Troy BUIS, and a Primary Arms dot on the packaged mount is about as somewhat-knowledgeable-but-still-a-normie as it gets.

Noveske was a big name in the late 2000's to early 2010's. Back then the AR market wasn't anywhere near as saturated or affordable as it is now, and you didn't have to go out of your way to find out-of-spec, questionable components. So when ol' John has a reputation of supplying in-spec, well made ARs and AR parts, it's something he make a pretty penny on. And he charged a premium for it. Then he thinks there's no real danger in hurling down a road at 70mph in a metal box, and he winds up splattering himself all over a rock. His wife takes over, QC starts taking a hit. many of the guys responsible for production leave and start their own businesses or join up with other ones. On top of that, numerous political happenings bring about a huge surge of production in the AR industry, and now every garage gunsmith has proper specs to components and can bring in receiver forging and slap his own logo on them. Chrome lined, military quality barrels from the likes of FNH are even being shat out by budget vendors like PSA. Everything that Noveske built its reputation on was now being offered by five dozen other companies, at a cheaper price. And that's the case today, on top of a floundering QC rep.

If you buy Noveske today, you're paying a premium for one of the biggest has-been names in the industry.

>>
>>35074228
That's half of the reason they are set to fade into total irrelevancy, the other half being that they are stuck in 2010 when it comes to innovation.

Their rifles are, as a rule, about $600 too much. Back in 2007 when the only other safe bets in the AR market were Colt and KAC, sure, they could get away with that kind of pricing. A Colt LE6920 was about $1200 then, and Noveske priced accordingly. Unfortunately, and this may very well be due to John having his teeth scattered in a mile radius alongside the interstate, the company hasn't gotten the memo that market changes have resulted in that same LE6920 now retailing for $800 NIB. They refuse to lower their price in a market that is now bloated with rifles and parts that are as good, if not better, for less. And I do mean better thanks to the QC issues, a trip in /arg/ got a brand new Noveske barrel and it was giving him 6 MOA while a $190 Ballistc ADvantage barrel was doing 2 MOA.

Look at this. This is about as basic as it gets. Milspec flat-top upper and lower, a Magpul CTR stock, A2 clamshell handguards, Magpul grip, a TROY rear BUIS, and a 16" CHF barrel. Oh, and a memey $60 NiB-coated trigger from ALG. It's essentially a cheaply dolled up basicbitch mid-length.

some of the older USC's did yeah but you use a navy lower and bolt for the conversion and they are double stack. they are going for about 4-5k on GB right about now. my biggest tip would be if you are buying it already converted is that you make sure the host USC was black instead of grey dyed black. if you scratch the grey ones the grey underneath will show through and it will look like shit as it is only a surface dye. I would need to see pics of it to tell you who did the job and if it was converted right.

The heart and sould of the company has imploded and been scattered to the wind. I've no doubt the company will exist into the next decade, but I think everyone there knows they're on borrowed time. When the only thing putting your once industry-leading company on the map is stainless steel barrels, you know you're in the twilight phase.

Usually current year arguments don't attract me, but this is spot on. The market is super-saturated to the point where you could easily, easily make a parts list (optic included) of high-end components and STILL be significantly under 1700.

different anon, I think I could build something just like this WITH an Aimpoint red dot and still be under what they're asking for that.

yeah, about $100 short.
>>
>>35074466
if you absolutely wanted to you could use an A2 flash hider that probably costs $5 and then use a suppressor that mounts to said A2 flash hider
>>
>>35074466

Figure out what can you want and just use whatever flash hider works best with that can. That way you're already prepared once you get it.

The Silencerco Saker is my favorite can on a market right now I think, and while it has multiple mounting options including AAC the ASR is supposed to be best.

Lots of good options. For no can, 249F is choice.

I wonder if header tape would work well.. It's heat reflective so the heat might be contained better but in doing so it might really heat up and melt shit. Idk but maybe worth trying if you had a cheap suppressor to try it out on. Couldn't look any worse then in the pic, lmfao.

3-4 shots a minute? How the fuck many gophers are you getting in a day!? Can't have suppressors in leafland but as long as you don't miss they don't get spooked.

I ain't got no "expensive" gun. Most I paid for a single gun was 700 buck. I usually buy multiple guns at a time though. Picked these up at the same time about two months ago. Cost me 2k.

Now, I am considering buying a sp5k, but I might just go poor and get a scorpion evo instead and maybe get a can.

Not in the USA but I make what would be equivalent to around $26k USD a year. Though I lose about a quarter of that in income tax alone. That money is going to funding a lot of my sound gear and I'm saving up to get flying lessons so that I can, hopefully, become a commercial pilot.

I'm fortunate though, I have minimal expenditures at the moment so I can save.

Don't. But unless you absolutely can't live without the HK rollmark, don't get the neutered, politically correct shit that is the SP5k either.

Why because I'm reminding you fags that you're all poor whether you spend $500 on a gun or $5000?
>>
>>35075841
only reason I'm even considering the sp5k is becuase I can get it for 1600 through industry discount. That's around the same, or even cheaper, than the clones.

I've looked into the changes a bit, and I'm mostly ok with it. I can change the dumb hand guard out and also add a paddle release with no major modification. I don't mind the barrel, since I do want an actual k gun, not a pdw. changes to prevent FA doesn't matter to me much since I'm too poor to afford a registered sear.

Now, while CZ doesn't have an industry discount program, I can get the scorpion evo for 675 (or 725 for the flashcan version) becuase of mil/leo discount.

Yeah, I can kind of see the appeal of the EVO now.
It's $1600 vs $1400 here (CZ 805 is $2100). CZ loves to charge "patriots" extra.
>>
>>35075922
The 805 isn't as cheap, with prices starting at 1500 for mil/leo (1400 for pistol). I do wonder why the scorpion is that expensive there though.

One main thing with the sp5k is that if I don't like it, I can easily sell it for what I paid for (or jew it a bit). The scorpion discount isn't that much and I'll probably end up selling at a lost if I don't like it.

quick tip to the newfags:

the AICS stocks (the thumbhole ones, not the pistol grip ones from when they competed for the PSR) have a black shroud on the stock where the bolt turns down.

AWs and AEs didn't. even the swept back bolt with the 60 degree throw isn't a guarantee since you can drop a Badger action in an AICS.

It was pretty easy dude. Hand files, sand paper and WD40, and a hand drill for the pin holes.

Basically file it down, then use increasingly fine grits of sandpaper with WD40 to wet sand. Comes out real good.

Only picture I have on my phone for some reason.

I'm struggling to find a rationale as to why people think spending over $2k on a Glock is a good idea. (excluding the cost of a red dot to put on it)

I have an X-Five AL SO (which I bought for less than 2k), and that's a truly marvelous gun.
So are things like the Sig P210, Sphinx 3000, etc. But a Glock? Why? I just don't see it.

>way better

opinions, honestly

I've fired mine beside a century L1A1 on an imbel receiver and they both shoot about as well judging from a few mags each (we shoot ~90-100yds open sights and my eyes are SHIT) I've got the DSA dialed in to hit ~2 inch groups without trying much

the trigger and parts on mine are far better quality, I opted for DSA's lighter "match trigger" and nickel teflon plated internals

I don't regret paying the price for a DSA because I'd rather have a new rifle vs. a parts gun

i don't know what you heard but the only "change" in gun laws as of late was an extension on the deadline to register your previously owned guns with the new system
i do hope we get better rights some day, but it's not priority no.1 for the government right now
