>>

Can any of these be CNC machined or anything?
>>
>>35068335
For the Uzi starting at the side would be much harder than starting at the back and moving forward.
>>
>>35069044
I know, I usually just draw the sketches and use them for extrusions or cuts later on. There are just a bunch of dimensions missing
>>
>>35069037
CAD files are just 3D renderings of blueprints (at nominal dimensions) so yes they theoretically could be. I made machining toolpaths for a VSS buttstock but it was slightly too high for my machine so I have to put it on hold for now. The profile came out flawless though with respect to the CAD

I gotta do some more work to the 3d adaptive so it doesn't do the outside of the receiver so it won't hit the vise, and I'm going to make some finishing passes with a woodruff cutter to get underneath the extractor and the rails.

And then enable for the 4th axis to cut the locking lug cut outs. then cut the magwell, trigger hole, and the lightening cuts.
>>
>>35070589
I tried it first with HSM works but some of the contours were fucked up so I switched to GibbsCAM

>>35070715
>won't hit the vice
Why not just add 0.100" or 0.200" on the x and y, center everything and use some tall parallels to mill the entire height out, then flip it and mill it to thickness?
>>
>>35070810
I would, but I didn't make the part. A buddy of mine made it and I don't know how to make the model sit correctly on the plane. as it sits now it's at an angle so the rails are parallel to the axis and not the bottom of the receiver. Also when he made it he used the front trunnion hole as the origin. fucking a pain in the ass I'll tell ya what.

Do you have tooling ready to machine the inside of the trunnion area/chamber? Getting tools into that space on those angles would be hard unless you have a way of fixing it on a 45 or somethig
>>
>>35069037
What >>35069173 said. Basically you need to program how the machine makes the part, called CAM
>>
>>35071722
Yeah, I have a 4th axis on my prototyping mill at work.

Haas TM1, if you were wondering. I preferred a mazak but company got it for cheap and the head engineer said I can use it after hours as long as I don't fuck it up.
>>
>>35073430
Isn't that just the best? Same deal at my work but I'm only comfortable with 3 axis. We have a few 4 axis packages but I have no clue how to do setups on them. Doyou do tool cals off the top of the part or what?
>>
>>35073575
What? You mean in regards to the z axis off the work piece? Or the tool height?

I was always taught to use the top left corner of the work piece as your origin as it's the part of the vise that doesn't move. If that is what you're asking
>>
>>35073575
Centerline of the axis for program/work offsets, tool heights should be the difference from Zhome to machine bed minus the length of the tool, usually ends up being a negative value. Like -18.2938".

>>35073629
Unless you know the exact difference between the top left corner of the work and the centerline of the 4th you're gonna have a bad time.
>>
>>35073703
>Unless you know the exact difference between the top left corner of the work and the centerline of the 4th you're gonna have a bad time
Not really, face each side, run a center drill in the opposite side the part will be in the Chuck, and all you have to do is do a bit of math and measuring. No prob, the machine runs itself the hardest part is getting the cam to not run the tool into the material at a crazy angle.
>>
>>35073869
I was just saying that since >>35073629 was talking about setting origins to the top left corner.

>cam at crazy angle
Not too hard to get right with Mastercam but I think you mentioned Gibbs and earlier in the thread I saw some Fusion360, I haven't worked with those at all so I don't know how they handle it.
>>
>>35073926
Same guy, fusion 360 is weird sometimes with it's adaptive clearings in that it likes to start at the same entry position and with 4th axis that can fuck some endmills up. I need to find out why it does that and stop that before I try and run something as complex as this in it
>>
>>35073629
>>35073703
I think I know what you mean but it could vary from job to job, no? As in having x+ or x-. Oh well, I'll get there some day when they trust me with the 4 axis equipment

Also add a G54 G90 X20.; or something before your M6. A guy at work forgot to add that on a tombstone job and the tool arm smoked the angle plate... He's been doing assembly now for a solid 4 months, no more mills for him
>>
>>35074251
It could indeed vary from job to job, depends of what needs to be done on the work. Remachining ops could have zero put somewhere for tolerance stacking reasons, machining from a stock billet could be set in the middle to avoid the stock material from being too big in one or more directions (to avoid overloading the tool if the stock is bigger than it should be) and other reasons.

Normally it should be something like

Twhatever
G91 G28 Z0
X0Y0
G90
M6

This would home the axes while yours would move the axis relative to your G54 offset. It also depends, as some machines macro a Z retract into their M6. With the machines I'm using, I have it set so I just TwhateverM6 without any other codes as the machine will run the M6 and do what it needs to do faster than if the cam posted out codes like M5, Z retract, and so on.
>>
>>35074251

>>
>>35074386
>>35074251
>>35074408

How could you kill a CNC machine using only codes? Like total machine suicide by destroying itself
>>
>>35075345
The best I can think of:
>(O100)
>T1 M6;
>G0 G54 G90 X10. Y10.;
>M3 S10000;
>M98 P101 L99;
>(O101)
>M8;
>G4 P1500;
>M73;
>G90 G54 Z-10.;
>M75?;
>X25. Y25.;
>Y-25.;
>X-25. Y25.;
>M9;
>G91 G28 Z0.;
>M99;

Basically get the biggest tool you can (ex: 4" fly cutter), spin it as fast as you can, and release it from the spindle with the M73 at mach speed. It then rapids into the table, drags itself around, retracts and gets looped 99 times. This is all assuming the servos wouldn't (which they can't) stop the machine once it encounters enough resistance in the motors

>How could you kill a CNC machine using only codes? Like total machine suicide by destroying itself
CNC machines are the smartest dumbest machines on the planet
>give it a machine path that has it using a certain tool going -1111111111111mm depth
>it'll do it
>once
>literally maxing out the servos until they burn out or the frame of the single axis fails
there is a reason why most cnc machines have a big ass red button to press to stop them from going full retard
>mfw my schools 4'x8' single axis developed the glitch of finishing a path then descending to z-axis -0, then dragging the tool across the project to 0,0 x y
>mfw solution was to add a final machine path that lifted the millbit 5" from the work surface and "cut" a path back to it's starting point and perpetually cutting there until someone pressed the off button

Question, is it possible to make a very simple cannon breech in SolidWorks without any formal education in it? I've done my share of 2D blueprints in AutoCAD but that is a whole other thing, I'm wondering if it's even worth downloading SolidWorks or just to forget it
>>

The actual name is sperrKlinke. It means locking tabs.
>>
>>35077791
What part of the gun do these fit with? I would guess the bolt but it doesn't look quite right
>>
>>35077861
Not on the bolt. They are part of the QD mounting system for the flash hider. Look at pictures of MP5Ks. It also needs a spring, spring retainer, and the little knob that pushes on the arm
>>
>>35077861
>>35077905
This is what it looks like on the MP5 BFA, we used this kind in the Norwegian army
>>
>>35077861
>>35077905
>>35077921
I might remember wrong, and it needs the arm + pin which holds it in place + spring + spring pusher knob?

This part would be named sperreklinke in Norwegian so it is very similar

Schematics are a bit hard to get a hold of it seems. I've been scouring the internet for years collecting them. I have a few in the dump links. GrabCAD has a whole bunch of CAD models for kalashnikov stuff so you could use the dimensions from the sketches or derive them using Solidworks drawing extension.

.25 inch caliber lands, 6.5mm grooves. it is gas operated with a moving combustion chamber which rocks down and up with the action, loads a round from a magazine to the front of the chamber by a rod. the round is completely straight caseless and the intended purpose is to be a prototype of a caseless rifle/pdw with electric ignition, like a futuristic p90. i guess ill have a fully functional prototype by the end of the year.
