Careful with that wording.

You do not, according to the ATF, just buy a lower and put a brace and barrel less than 16 inches on it. You need to make sure it is designated as a "Pistol lower" for this to be legal. Other than that to get a brace on it youll need the buffer tube that does not accept a collapsible stock. From there the rest is built like a normal AR, minus some attachments like a VFG

Checking out the ARES SCR gen2. Heard it can take any AR-15 upper and i was wondering if anyone knows if it can be equipped with something in .308 or if id just have to invest in a proper .308 rifle. I like the sporting stock and i think itd be fun to be able to switch out the upper whenever i want to take down larger game with the .308 and then switch to a 5.56 for smaller targets.

Im obviously not knowledgeable on the subject of building a rig so any info would be appreciated.
