The J-20 finally gets new engines.
WS-10IPE (150kn) replacing the interim AL-31F Series 3 (135kn).
Serrated nozzles and quite possible 3D TVC.
Now, these still arent the final engines for the J-20 (WS-15 is), but now this plane can achieve near its full potential.

Previous engines related.
Note the deeper flameholder.
will bestkorea bring us soon J-20 vs. F22 ?

How feasible would it be to remove the canards? That's really the only thing stopping it from BTFOing an F-35
>>35056829
Canards are less the problem than the backend.
Canards themselves do not produce as big of a radar spike as the rear part, especially since they can be coated in RAM and built with radar absorbing material.

I'd love to see a source for this

Sure thing, LingLing

So, 300kN for a plane two meters smaller than a Flanker.
That's really not bad.

Nice.
That's clearly a WS-10 derivate. The internal structure is a tell-tale sign.
Now, the J-20 is 100% indigenously producible, without relying on Russia anymore for the engines.
This fact alone would give China considerable strategic advantages over their asian rivals.
