.45 GAP made it obsolete
>>
.40 came along and it took 20 years for everyone to realize it's shit. Reminder that .40 is LITERALLY 10mm special, and it rips handguns apart at a retarded rate because no handgun has even been designed to shoot it.

Also, if you own a .40 handgun, SELL. IT. NOW. Several of the largest ammunition manufacturers just stopped producing it.

>Required too heavy of a gun to shoot reliably
>Actually does recoil too much (despite what manly men on /k/ who've never shot it claim)

As an old fuck I can remember the hype around the introduction of the 10mm.

What put a huge dent in the 10mm reputation was that there were lurid stories of the Bren 10 pistols being prematurely beaten to death by the high pressure cartridge. Another thing was that for a long time there was only the Bren 10 (made famous by Miami Vice) and the Colt Delta Elite. The Colt was constantly dogged by breathless and hysterical "Is the 1911 strong enough?" argument in the gun magazines to sell copy in the pre-interweb days.
>>
>>35056267
You really are retarded. It was ORIGINALLY designed to be .40. It was not RELEASED as a 40 caliber gun. Ypu are aware that changes happen from the graph paper engineers use and the released product right?

Again, I will repeat this. There is not a handgun(there are SMGs and rifles) that has EVER been released that was intended to fire .40 reliably and for a long time.

>USPs are the best fucking pistols ever made.
not really? I mean, at the time, I can see it, but ion today's market where aftermarket galore and gunsmithing service over the internet both through sending it into a service AND watching videos and servicing yourself, I really don't think USP's live up too well. They are beautiful as fuck, but their overall trigger, muzzle flippiness, and discontinued attachment rail has been surpassed by modern handguns.
>>
>>35056521
That wasn't the statement that was made.
>4 guns in existence shoot

But since you asked
Tanfoglios are rather easy to come by.
As are Sigs and Colt Deltas
Wilson Combats are on the high end, as are the Dan Wessons but both are fairly available.
The Kriss Vector in 10mm is readily available as well.

>>
>>35056045
10mm auto is an excellent SMG round, but a little too hot for handguns.
>>
>>35056547
The problem here is that you're trying to equate a USP which is near perfection to guns that need modification to run at the same level and even then you're running into a huge hornets nest of reliability issues. Their trigger is fine, most of you faggots crying about them have never even shot one, and with a full match trigger it's amazing and easily one of the best triggers that isn't custom fitted. Muzzle flip is almost totally nonexistent in this gun due to the recoil system or you have incredibly bitch hands because it's one of the flattest shooting 40s and 45s you can find. Also you can find big companies making attachments for them still because HKfags enjoy their guns as they are and require very little modification sans a light or night sights.
Tldr you've never touched a USP

No? How fucking poor are you? The difference between .40 and 9mm is $50@1000rds, and thats being generous with the differential.
>>
>>35056128
This is what happens when people regurgitate things they don't fully comprehend.

40 kills guns because some manufacturers decided to scale up their existing 9mm designs to 40 by increasing recoil spring weight and simply rechambering.

The USP was designed in the early 90's for 40S&W pressures and tolerances specifically and was released in 1993, the USP 45 was released in 1995.

The USP9 actually has lightening cuts inside of the slide because they had to scale the weight down for 9mm.

Lmao no. AR-10=/= AR15 nor was it ever designed for the 8mm Kurz (That was a FAL prototype, along with early rifles of the G3/CETME family). You could say it was based on the AR10 with the design being downscaled to be qualifiable with the assault rifle competitions, but no way was it originally designed for the 7.62 NATO cartridge.

You forgot the Colt Double Eagle. I have one of those and a 4th gen G29 is my CCW
>>
>>35056045
quite literally, women.

that is the exact reason the FBI dropped it. they said that the majority of women agents had a hard time dealing with the recoil let alone the weight of the gun(S&W 1076).

the round is EXTREMELY powerful for what it is. it literally has to have the gun built for it from the ground up. most .45acp pistols can't withstand the recoil over prolonged use. the recoil spring has to be WAY heavier than a .45acp. adn teh chamber has to be built thick as fuck.

It is a great round. I absolutely love my 10mm to death. I will never sell it. I would love to carry it for edc, but there are few options for that in a decent price range. and G20's are pretty fucking big for CC. believe me. I've tried. and I currently CC a USP(about the biggest I'll go).
>>
>>35058096
G29 is doable if you don't plan on firing it single handed very often. I put a mag of my carry ammo (hornady XTP 180gr) through it every time I shoot just to remind myself of the recoil Well, and to rotate fresh ammo into my gun.
>>
>>35058149
I've been a little leary on doing a compact 10mm. I've shot my witness and 1911 10mm single handed and those aren't TOO bad and quite doable, but, I think that's because of the longer recoil spring.

IDK, maybe that's something I'll have to look into.

99% of such incidents for any guns are double loads, shitty hand loads, etc. My G20 is in my carry rotation and I don't fear using it at all. I don't even wear eye protection when shooting it.

IIRC there were some very early Gen2's in .40 that had an issue Glock fixed (and that's where muh grenade meme comes from) but I have a first-year protection Gen2 Glock 20 and have fired it hundreds of times without issue. Even shooting something like Underwood out of it.

Personally if you're wanting a 10mm just to have a 10mm, I'd get a nice Delta Elite or AMT Javelina, but that's me. Glock is a nice regular man's choice though.

But yeah, 10mm conversions are easy enough on USP40s, and at least on guy did it with a 45 to use the mags

That, 357 and whatever new meme rounds are made is one of the only reasons I'm getting a USP in 40

agreed. .40 does have it's place. honestly though, I wouldn't mind getting my hands on some of those .357sig trade-ins.
>>
>>35061356
Depends why you want it really. I just like oddball stuff since a person came get a solid carbine and ccw for under 1500 these days, so everything else can be for fun or novelty. While a .40 can't match the sectional density of the .357, it can actually match the velocity for equal weight bullets. I would like a P226 and a Sig Fastback in .357Sig because reasons.
>>
>>35061476
honestly, i just want to get it just because I can.

You have a BMI of 34. You are nearly to class 2 obese which is "fat fat" as you call it. Your body will thank you if you scale back on the frostys and fries. You don't even need to workout.
>>
>>35062683
>BMI
How does it feel to be retarded?
>>
>>35061502
That's all the reasoning you need. People spend to much time trying to min/max gun purchases irl
>>
>>35062683
I had a Section Sgt when I was in that was about 5'3"ish and 170lbs. the Army said he was overweight. Dude didn't have an ounce of fat on him. he was fucking RIPPED! he could run over 5miles easy, do well over 20 pull ups, always maxed the PT test.

then on the other hand, I've seen people that were 5'5" and weigh over 200lbs that were truely fat fuckers that could barely pass ANY PT adn yet they were somehow within regs.

So, that whole BMI thing is real bullshit.

No shit it isn't a perfect measure but the people how are actually muscular enough to be classified as obese or morbidly obese are few and far between. I guarantee this guy isn't one of them. Fucking Schwarzenegger competed at 245-250 lbs at 6'2". Are you seriously saying that this guy has 20lbs more muscle than Arnold at his prime?

>other guns aren't as good as a USP because they need to be modified
>if you just modify the USP and get a match grade trigger

I actually own both a G19 and a USP in 9mm. They have a similar recoil spring, but the G19 is smaller in every dimension yet holds the same amount of rounds, because HK magazine design is inefficient as fuck. The USP's trigger reset is laughably weak. Secondly you can easily modify a glock with factory springs that are lighter while also doing a piss easy 25 cent trigger job. Try replacing your trigger reset spring alone in your USP. Also try attaching an RMR or light to your gun without modifying anything or any additional adapters. MOS model glocks need no modification and standard glocks can actually be cut for them. Do I have to mention bore axis as well?
>>
Can anyone tell me how well the Tanfoglios are? Any owners here? I've heard that they are really great guns for the money but I always like to get more opinions.
>>
>>35064750
I own quite a few guns, including gen1 and gen4 G17s, and a USP40, 9, and .45, the USP is a better gun.

InRange just did a G19 MOS video where from a ransom rest they got a little over 2" groups at 15yds, my USP40 is a 1" gun at 25yds.
>>
>>35065029
I have a .38 super steel frame and it is fantastic, my buddy has the poorfag polymer frame and it has better ergos and is more mechanically accurate than a G17, and my local match director has a Stock II and Stock III and he is a master classification shooter that praises them.

>I actually own both a G19 and a USP in 9mm.
Congratulations, they are both fine guns.

>They have a similar recoil spring
Simmilar isn't the same, but okay

>But the G19 is smaller in every dimension yet holds the same amount of rounds
Yeah, it's a compact.

>Because HK magazine design is inefficient as fuck.
No, HK prioritized "as close to zero malfunctions in the life if the firearm as fucking possible" over "couple more rounds m8"
And they succeeded, the USP is a bomb proof gun while the Glock is 'very reliable, but you really nerd to know how to clear a malfunction'

The USP's trigger reset is laughably weak.
Not really, you should try a MkIII Browning High Power.

>Secondly you can easily modify a glock with factory springs that are lighter while also doing a piss easy 25 cent trigger job.
Fucking with a Glock is the #1 way to start getting malfunctions

>Try replacing your trigger reset spring alone in your USP.
I did, three times. My .45 has a heavy, my .40 and 9mm have match springs. Have you tried not being a bitch?

>Also try attaching an RMR or light to your gun without modifying anything or any additional adapters.
Okay, here is a light. Interesting that the same year if Glock doesn't even have a rail to try this with......

>MOS model glocks need no modification and standard glocks can actually be cut for them.
They are also ludicrously overpriced, and mostly used for competition. The pistol optic has advantages, but in the hands of a practiced shooter an iron sighted pistol is just as lethal.

Lol, what a fucking pussy, they don't have more muzzle flip than other guns unless you have bitchwrists. The trigger is also fine unless you need super light triggers because of your fundamentals.

Fucking hilarious. I had to sell my 9mm and 45acp handguns a year ago because of unfortunate shit. I decided to get a 10mm this time because I live in bear and big ass moose land. Bought a glock 20 1 month ago and its like I never stopped shooting. Im boringly good with this gun. The recoil doesn't even register.
