Yes. It obviously is poorly thought out. You could argue it makes functioning the gun easier than if it was in a normal spot like on the side like other guns-- but the fucking mag release negates any possibly benefits. There is a reason why most guns don't have mag releases at the bottom of the magwell, its slow.

If they had just done a normal striker fire style gun instead of trying to incorporate german space magic into the grip, it would be a 10/10 gun.
