Ceramic armor, GLATGMs, and ERA.

There are around 5000 T-72b in Russian inventroy. 1300 of them already upgraded to T-72b3. They need as many modern tank as they can because Russian ground force is reverting their formation back to division from brigade. T-72b3 in newest iteration have relict, V-92S2F and Sosna-U and good enough for modern combined arms operation.

It would be interesting to see what a T-72 outfitted with the latest western ceramic armor would be like. I have seen claims the newest armor is around 4 to 5 times more effective per kg than steel against both HEAT and AP. No one has really upgraded MBTs with this armor yet. Closest thing is the canadian leopard mexas but that armor is two generations old now.

T-72 is covered in applique armor already anyway not hard to upgrade those. Ceramics vs ERA is unclear only a few german companies make the advanced ceramic armor, they advertise heavy MBT versions but no one has built a new MBT since they have existed. I'm not sure if Russia has the production equipment for nanoceramics.

The 1300 is this year end number, it was mention in one of bmpd post and russia is upgrading 200-300 per year. The relict era is the T-72b3 mod 2017. MoD says that relict explosive element is inserted into K-5 housing

If they can root out some of the corruption between business and government, actually embrace free trade and competition, and do lots of other things that Western economies do (and not just export oil and military hardware), then they can improve their economy, improve the quality of life for their people, and strengthen the ruble.

Ruskies already made improvements on the armor, armament(ammo) and FCS. Yet they still wouldn't put 1500hp diesel engine in these tanks to make it ultramobile or they won't even change the transmission to let to tank do pivots and neutral drive turns, hell T-72 still only reverses at max 4km. Even WW2 Soviet tanks had 18km reverse. They need to load this tank with proper diesel engine they made and stop using transmission from T-44

Sorry anon, but SKO Drawa, even with new thermal camera from PCO S.A. is still utter crap. It fucking plagued with problems with unreliable power source, constantly need a calibration, auto focus function simply do not work at low light levels and system that supposedly should prevent you from being fucking blinded by active thermal jammers (or nuke blast) have such a ridiculous lag that is useless.

It fucking need at least 5 years more of developement and shitload of money - which it never got, because T-72 will be mothballed at 2020 and right now all money are going to Leo2 upgrade and retarded OT
