thoughts on and experiences with the ruger sr9c?
>>
>>35050300
I've got one I bought from a guy who's wife comes le work the stiff action. And it is no doubt stiff even for me.
The 17rd mag with the grip extension looks like it would be flimsy or something but it fits nicely and gives you a nice full size grip. The loaded when up indicator is a little goofy but easy to look over.

I've put about 500 rounds through mine since I bought it and not had any problems. Overall it's not a terrible compact pistol if you can get a good deal on it.

ive been considering getting one for my first handgun i wanted it because i heard its more comfortable to shoot than other compact 9s
>>
>>35050365
The thumb safety on such a small frame is sort of awkward to work depending o man how big your hands are. Other than that I can say it's pretty comfy
>>
>>35050300
heard alright things. My only problem with it is the safety. Looks way smaller than it should be for easy brainless use IMO.

I've got some experience with the M&Pc and GP P11 if you're interested in other similar size designs.
>>
>>35050404
heard good things about the m&pc not too familiar with the gp p11, how do they compare to each other?

Inspect the barrel of this gun next to barrels from Sig, Glock, HK... Ruger barrels are unfinished, untreated pot metal with sharp edges all over their locking lugs. What the actual fuck. If this is your price range, buy a used gun from a better manufacturer.
>>
>>35050456
M&Pc- Very reliable, comfortable enough, good aftermarket, many holsters, trigger sucks stock, safety sucks on it(not positive). Ended up replacing the trigger and sights with aftermarkets.

Grand power P11- comfortable enough but slide release is a little annoying, excellent fit/finish, good safety, best stock trigger ive felt on a gun this size, almost no aftermarket, a hair larger than the 9c IIRC, very accurate, relatively low recoil, acceptably reliable but not amazingly.

The p11 is a bit of a meme gun but it is more enjoyable to use and a little better shooting in my hands than the M&P. That being said whenever the M&Pc 2.0 comes out i think it'll ameliorate a lot of the M&Ps shortcomings.
>>
>>35050300
>ruger sr9c?

great shoooter great bargain

i rented sr9c 9e & american compact

sr9c weighs a few oz more than blocks and the recoil is noticably less, trigger is like 1/4" pull to fire & the slide recoils back & forth faster than the 9e or american because (?) its a few oz liter & shorter

but i got lc380 instead didn't want to have 2 calibers

It's nice and thin for a double stack.
Pretty well made for the price.
Safety is small but works ok. Can also just leave it off.
Sights are good.
Trigger sucks.
Magazine disconnect safety sucks. But is removable.

I am also looking for a new sub compact.

I had a regular SR9 that I bought shortly after they came to the market. Great gun. did my CCW qualification with it. shot straight as an arrow. only Striker fired gun I really could shoot accurately with. never had a jam of any other malfunction. loading up the 17rnd mag is kinda a bitch when you start getting towards the last few rounds. really kinda wish I still had it.

BUT, I've been thinking of getting one of these, an HK P30SK, or a VP9SK.
>>
>>35058087
But that isn't what pot metal means.
Go check out a ring of fire gun sometime. That's actual pot metal.
Hi points use it too but have the decency of using ZAMAK (one of the "better" zinc alloys) and great gobs of the stuff so it's inherent weaknesses are less apparent
>>
>>35050392
That's why nobody used it. I don't think they ever really meant for anyone to use it

>>
>>35053644
Ruger took a good chunk of S&Ws POLICE sales with the six series, the air force still has some in inventory and some success was had with the P series among LEO.Manurhin uses the Six series as the basis for one of their designs and used what river taught them to design the MR93. I still see Rugers in LE use with smaller departments. Ruger just stopped going after that market, they have no need to.
>>
>>35057899
Not without a +2 nameplate. That's why they're sub compacts. So far nobody has figured out how to defy the laws of physics
>>

True, i guess my point was that it's got all the meme ingredients/features, they aren't a meme now but if they ever catch on they instantly will be. Pic related.
>>
>>35059339
I've been tempted to pick one of these up. I'm just trying to justify the cost for the obscurity. they're great guns and all. just the price. my LGS has them in stock, but they're around $700 for the regular models and almost 1k for the shooters special model.
>>
>>35060047
that's way overpriced dude, get one off the internet. The best part is that they're a ~450-500 dollar gun that's got a better finish than most guns twice as expensive. Except for the slide release, those can be a little uncomfortable at first.
>>
>>35060104
that's a lot more agreeable for the price.

if you would stop being autistic and just listen for half a second, instead of knee-jerk insta-reacting (because you like ruger) you would realize the OBVIOUS criticism here is that if you handle a ruger sr9c (or any ruger semi auto barrel) along side other (better) manufacturers, anyone with eyes will instantly recognize that there is a difference in the quality of steel / finish. They appear to be untreated, or not up to the standard of other manufacturers in terms of quality of materials used for barrels.

I have an SR40C. I had to remove the magazine retention safety to get the weapon to fire. I'm now going to put a case of ammo through it to see if the (now) 90% fire rate improves. The firing pin still does not strike hard enough to ignite the primer 1/10 times. Overall, I'd say I'm not impressed. I'm skeptical over the weapon can be broken in, and if it cannot, I will not be carrying it.

Good pistol. The safety is very easy to use so the size doesn't affect disengaging it with your thumb. Most people swap that base plate off with the extra in the box because it pokes you in the side. If you get one the first thing you do is take a paperclip and a punch and pop that garbage magazine dc off. The grip is also a little slick in all the wrong places, I taped mine some. The trigger is good but it definitely needs to be worked in and cleaned out to remove the factory grit. The only real problem I have are the sights. The paint fell out of my front sight and nobody I know has one where the windage is correct. If you decide to edc it maybe plan on swapping those out. The full size magazine extension is also too long so you have to slap the magazine in or take a blade and smooth the lip out.

I have a ruger sr9c black version. Have over 2000 rounds in it. Trigger is a bit gritty out of box, but lightened up really well after about 300 rounds. Dual recoil spring was stiff as fuck when I first got it and it would have a tendency to catch on the lip of casings when loading the first round of a magazine unless I slingshotted with considerable force. Springs have settled in now and it no longer does it. It has been my EDC for the past 5-6 years.

Only failures I have had is when people limp wrist it, it jams. Only breakage I have ever had on it is my fault for trying to do a detailed full tear down of the gun and breaking a few springs trying to put the fire group back together. Oh and the paint dots on the rear sight have faded and scratched out. But I don't see this as having harmed my accuracy because I focus on the front sight post exclusively while shooting.
