The walmart safes; if you tilt them on their side, and drop them on the floor from about 2 inches in height while turning the handle they will open right up!

Don't bother with a safe unless you're getting it for the fireproofness. If someone really wants your guns, the safe isn't going to stop them even if you spend several grand on one. Just buy a sheet metal gun cabinet for like $200 to protect your guns from humidity.
A burglar alarm and/or good neighbors is what will deter thieves.

These "safes" you guys talk about are NOT safes, they are RSCs. Literally made out of thin metal sheets for walls and fulled with drywall and carpet. These are terrible wastes of money if you specifically want to keep your shit from getting stolen, for fire protection and minimal security (like keeping guns away from children or other guests in the house) they arent bad. Most of these safes can be broken into with a crowbar in not even 10 minutes. A real gun safe will cost you easily more than 3k. Dont waste your money on impressive looking RSCs, instead get sturdy metal cabinets, theyre just as effective but lack the fake "security" look RSCs have.

I had all my guns in a simple Stack On gun cabinet when we had a break in (I was out of state; my roommates told me about it the next day). The thief tried to pry it open with a cheap kitchen knife, which snapped in half. All my guns were there when I got home.

Most thieves want to be in and out in two minutes; they'll grab unsecured low-hanging fruit (like my roommate's laptop, which was on the kitchen table) and then bolt. They don't bring angle grinders with them, and they're not going to sit there in your room for five or ten minutes making a horrendous amount of racket.

Long story short, a basic cheapie locking cabinet is probably all you need.
