I'm pretty selective when it comes to anime, cant stand annoying cutesie japanese shit, however there are several out there that are very down to earth and sci-fi oriented. For example, Akira was the first full length animated feature (besides disney kid movies) and it used the medium of anime to tell the story because a gigantic dystopian neo-tokyo setting and crazy visuals would have been (and probably still is) a nigh impossible undertaking if filmed in live action. Also it came out in the 80s way before any of the irritating af anime tropes took over the genre. pic related of the orignial manga the film was based on, dark shit

The soviets had 240+mm air-to-ground rockets, tho. S-24 and S-25.

On a sidenote, there were attempts to put rocket launchers in the hold. Here is a Matra 104 for Vautour, 112 68mm rockets.
