Why are the leafs so anally protective when it comes to CADPAT?
>>35045114
All uniforms are property of the Crown, they are not privately owned, any unauthorized selling/possesion of them is theft from the government. Throw in some secret dye technology as well.
>>35045114
Because it's pretty good
>>35045130
>All uniforms are property of the Crown
Yeah, but why would they burn that shit? I don't see the U.K. doing that. Surplus=money, are they really that stupid?
>secret dye technology
Yeah because it's sooo hard to get your hands on one of these things to reverse engineer it....

It's more of a thing about making sure people don't wear are uniform pretending to be us. The Canadian military Owens the pattern for it as well and only leases it to companies to make stuff for the military. Any clothing from berets to boots the military owns the patents to so it's not open to the public. It's also made to fuck with NVGs

>Why are the leafs so anally protective when it comes to CADPAT?
Because Canada will conquer the world with CADPAT, Americuck.
>>35045114
Ask anyone who has seen someone kitted out in CADPAT thru an legit NVG or IR device damn near invisble.
>>35045929
Same for some of the newer Brit and Aus uniforms these days, really protective of their sale.
But I'm a civvie and I bought cadpat pants at some surplus store.
I'm guessing this isn't made with the same ink or something?
>>35046178
Nope. Made in secret fucking factories
Why can't the US get good camo? Why haven't we adopted A-TACS?
>>35046178
definitely not
the quick rundown is that the crown owns it, so you can't re-sell it (it's literally free to use), but the additional dye is also super sekrit documents-tier and really fucks with various-spectrum visual tools, which is important for a country with small manpower and enrolled forces like Canada. it essentially gives the entire army a big force multiplier, which can be major when it comes to fighting a modern army (if ever applicable).
essentially it's how we can fight and disappear into the wilderness of canada (at night) should we be attacked
realistically it's not the world's nuttiest camo, but for canada, especially the rural and forest areas, it is damn near spot-on in quality
and it's way more aesthetically pleasing than multicam (potentially due to rarity). M05 looks nice too imo
Time to plan a /k/ommando operation to steal several pallets of CADPAT.
>>35046260
Cause we're too busy developing different fucking multicam patterns (OCP, OEF-CP, Scorpion, Scorpian W2, etc)
>>35046291
This is true
Why the fuck are you guys unable to make good camos at all
UCP is absolute shit, multicam is gay and make for the sandbox, woodland is meh, choco chip is one of the few good camos the US has had, practically speaking
I guess you don't need the average soldier when you can drop a laser-guided JDAM from an F-35 which took off from one of the three local carrier groups eh
meanwhile us leafs have to save money and remove kebab from 3.5km
>>35045114
Do leafs even get to keep their military uniforms?
>>35046394
Nope. Thank you socialism.
>>35046394
Nope
I don't think there's any part of the kit we keep when we leave
>>35045154
U.K doesn't give a shit about the queen as much since they have her living with all year long.
Anytime the queen visits here we throw shit up and roll out the best syrups. If burning makes her come more often like some offering to odin, we'll continue to do so.

The wool socks and underwear.
But then you usually buy your own underwear anyways.
When Williams was convicted the military ceremonially burned his unifrom and crushed his issued vehicle simply so they would never again be issued.

Multicam, Navy AOR-1 & 2, and MarPat are great camouflages, just like how 3-color desert and woodland are. The problem is that these camouflages are seen everywhere, including being put on everything right down to videogame controllers, the velcro hats worn by tactical Timmies, recruiting posters, video games and in some cases foreign militaries. People are so used to seeing multicam that they're sick of looking at it, yet they do what they were designed for - make the person wearing it hard to see in the intended environment. They are worlds better than the Air Force digital tiger stripe, ACUs or the blue shit our sailors wear to feel special. The only benefit to squid camo is that it turns orange in sea water.
What the Canadians are doing is a good idea for their military - keeping the uniform, technology behind it and it's capabilities exclusive is cheaper than having to pay for developing new patterns once they're being worn by 3rd world war lords.
