Yes. And not only does it suck, it sucks in comparison to calibers that already suck at killing people. .357 out of a snubby will at least do the two things that a hundgun caliber is expected to do reliably: penetrate to vital organs, likely through bone, and expand in order to inflict the most damage possible to those systems. With .380, especially out of a subcompact, you only get to choose one of the two for any loading to do reliably. I wouldn't tell someone to carry nothing over a .380, but you need to accept the limitations of the round

Breddy much, but mostly it's just a comfort thing. I don't like having anything in my front pockets. It is a damn convenient method though. I carried an LCR in my right front pocket, daily, for 3 years. I really don't understand how some folks carry a G26 or even shield/PPS innapocket. LCR/642 is my upper limit.

Gonna ditch my G42 for an LCP2 potentially. G42 is just a bit large for deep concealment for me.

I have a steel S&W 638 and love it but it is annoyingly heavy. I use .38++P 158gr SWCLHP when I carry it. The weight makes it really easy to shoot accurately, almost no muzzle flash, and quiet as guns go.
.357 isn't worth it, IMO. You will blast your hearing and the .357 is crippled coming out of a sub 2" barrel. Best ammo is a matter of controversy, but I think the custom ++P 158 gr semi-wadcutters (i.e. Buffalo Bore) is one of the better choices for a steel snubby.

The PDX1 .357's that I shoot out of my 340 don't have excessive recoil at all; if you haven't tried that load out of your revolver then you should. Pocket .380's are not as easy to shoot as you give them credit for, although I agree that they're more tame than a .357 snubby. Personally I don't care how many rounds I can dump into someone if I can't be confident that the bullets will penetrate or not be deflected by bone. .357 out of a snubby is still better than 9mm out of just about anything, so who cares how much velocity you're loosing? As far as being dazed by muzzle blast, I've been on the front side of guns multiple times in training and shot beside my own snubby at an indoor range. I know what to expect and I could easily work through it. Finally, I would never carry an all lead round because the environment I work in could require me to shoot through barriers. Fully bonded hp is my choice in any caliber

I usually wear Mountain Khaki brand pants. They have two right side pockets. Gun alone goes into inside pocket. I keep a single car key and a lighter in the outside pocket to help break up any printing. Has worked well for a couple of years now.
