Hello /k/, the /b/ fag known as the "Broke ghetto engineer"
Before you get pissed, remember, I'm a /b/ fag, so don't feed the troll (I think people act like asses, so I do shit to piss them off)

I've been calling local gun shops looking for a good alternative to a highpoint 45 acp

I'm mostly run into .380 and 9mm, and a tokerov revolver(With ammo so rare, what's the point), so I'm here to ask what do you carry, why and what do you think is a good carry gun and why.
>>
>>35042174
Tokarev revolver?
Just buy any of the $300 polymer striker guns that are the new hotness.
>>
>>35042174
Why did you save a thumbnail? Also go to a physical gun store and handle some 9mm and .380 handguns and pick the one that fits you best.
>>
>>35042174
My price range is about the same
$200 to $270, and I want to defend myself and my family.

I'm a ass, but my family is innocent, so tolerate me for their sake
>>
>>35042174
Buy a walther pps . If you buy before feb 15th you can sang them on rebate.
Brownells is advertising them around $320 after rebate
>>
>>35042174
CC a flintlock and escape in the smoke cloud
>>
>>35042200
Honestly double dubs, I'll even take that at this point
>>
>>35042188
Yeah, I actually like Russian guns
But i'm better off with a common round
>>
>>35042192
I was looking for a good CCW pic, didn't notice the size

I'll be doing that shopping soon
>>
>this nigger again
Why don't you learn how to live with the people around you, Lee take a loan out and move out? If you're smart enough to be an "engineer" this should be a no brainier
>>
>>35042214
Tok in 9mm
Mak in 9mm
Mak in .380
>>
>>35042195
owning a CCW is a major responsibility that you can't hope to adequately fulfill that cheaply. If you need a gun to keep in your sock drawer, alright, but carrying requires you pay hundreds of dollars a year for practice ammo, range time, classes, and license renewals. If you're not prepared to do any of this stuff, then I can honestly say doing CC will put you and those around you in more danger than had you not.

Right now all I got is a few bucks for a general gun
>>
>>35042238
9x19 or .380 sure
9x18, ammo is more rare
>>
>>35042276
why don't the police give you a gun?
it's easier than you think to ccw a full sized pistol.
>>
https://www.centerfiresystems.com/p-1908-taurus-709fs-slim-9mm-in-blue-steel.aspx

Cheap? Yes.
Functional? Uh, sure?
Common ammo? Yes.

Just talk to the local gun stores, and find one who charges the least for the transfer, and ask if you can ship to them. Shouldn't hopefully go past $250, and you have roughly $20 to get a box of ammo. Save pennies to buy more ammo to practice more, and hope it's not a lemon as is potentially the case with taurus.
>>
Get an ria m206. Snub nose .38, under $300. No case no trace
>>

Then don't buy one in 9x18? Turn your fucking brain on dude.

define "cheap", IMO there is no reason to get a cheap pot metal POS shit in this day and age. Ive seen plenty of guns, new and used, at reasonable prices. If you cant save an extra hundred dollars to get that LEO trade in glock, beretta, smith and wesson, ect, or milsurp pistol you have to get your life together. In todays information age you can tell whats a good, refutable name brand, even if they arent as well established as some of the big dogs yet, and what is garbage. Save yourself the trouble of buying a jimez or hi point now and buy something for literally 100 dollars more. You dont need some custom thousand dollar gun, anywhere from the 300-500 range is manageable. Hell ive even seen some good shit in the 200 range

This basically. I mean if you can scrap another 100 dollars together to your original budget (do what I do, look for loose change, I managed to get 100 dollars within two weekends), you should be able to get something that is 100+$ + the average price of Hi Point 45acp (which is 150$) like a nice SCCY 9mm or a Taurus PT111 G2.* And if you go the extra distance with the scraping, a nice new or used SD9VE.

*((I know Taurus has a history of BS quality control but seems like their latest production has improved but in your situation, it's dependable))

Patience and thinking of nice ways to get that extra scrap shouldn't be hard.

As to your question I carry guns you apparently can't afford anyway. You should look for a police trade in Glock for yourself or if you want to buy new, get a canik.

>>
>>35043566
The internet.
>>
>>35043566
Walk into a police station and say

I want to HAVE A GUN
>>
I carry a no lock 642, for a couple of reasons.

1.) Office dress code limits my methods of practical carry. Yes, I could walk around with a G19 IWB underneath my tucked shirt, but being forced to untuck your shirt as part of your draw is, to me, an undesirable prospect should I ever have to deal with a competent mugger, carjacker, or aggressive panhandler.

2.) No issues with legality anywhere in the United States. In the event I have to move, I do not have to worry about stepping on the toes of some alphabet agency or unknowingly breaking the laws of my municipality.

3.) A revolver can do certain things that an automatic cannot, and a snubnose pocket revolver does not lose much capacity compared to a pocket automatic. A revolver does not experience failures to feed, failures to eject, double feeds, rounds nosediving on a feedramp, and does not require lubrication to actually run. A revolver also can fire without malfunction from inside a pocket and is able to perform contact shots without going out of battery. These are real advantages in a carry gun, especially when you consider that most pocket automatics are not as reliable as their full-sized counterparts. Go ask anyone who bought a Glock 43 at launch what his experience was like.

Also, if you are worried about not having enough capacity with 5 shots, go look up who Bernard Goetz is and what he's known for.
>>
>>35042174
Look at the Arcus 94/98 pistols, they're an excellent 9mm. Also look at the S&W 59 series, and the Ruger steel frame pistols. Taurus revolvers are decent as well as the PT92. Classic firearms had the Beretta 92s for $299. Also, the S&W shield can be had for under $300.

Almost-full ambi and double stacked with something a little hotter than .380 are pretty nice points for it as a real carry gun though.

Honestly I feel safer around untrained civilians than trigger-happy cops. At least CCWs have to think about legal consequences when they use their weapon.

I carry a Shield 9mm.
It's a good, cheap, and accurate carry. Shoots great. I've put about 1000 rounds through it and only had ejection problems with poopy aluminum cases ammo.

I bought mine last month during the rebate, which is still going on this month for states with gun laws capping magazine capacity. Super comfy to carry.

Find one for close to $350, get $75 rebate. If no rebate, they are still giving away mags or something like that.
>>
>>35046840
Same guy

I should say that the sights on the shield are a little high, so you tend to shoot high up close. Takes some practice but you get used to it quick.
As other anons have said, it takes more cash than you think to own a firearm. You have to practice. You have to shoot. You have to join a club, pay for club dues, clean your gun, buy ammo which can easily cost $100 a month if you're shooting enough
