I can probably pick up a deactivated mg53 for sub 500 quid. My dad loves the ss and mg42 and I've heard this is just the yugo made version. I don't want to get it if its a scam but it looks in good condition and I am getting in contact with the seller soon. My dad did just get his uk gun licence so I'm not sure if he would want a deactivated weapon if he can buy a bolt action fal for 3k. What do you think would suit a brit vet and is this gun a scam? Any info will be a massive help.

To re activate it. I bought a deactivated mg53 years ago and restored it. The bolt head was grinded away 45° i welded material on it milled it and heat threaded it. The barrel had 6 holes in it and the chamber had ballbearing balls welded into it. I drilled thruw the whole lenght and sleved an used k98 barrel in it. it works full automatic. I fired only about 30 rounds but they worked flawless.

Depends if it is one after or before April 2016. If its made according to specs from before, do it NOW, but I don't know about the legality.
If the specs are from after that date(non-moveable bolt etc.) its realy nothing more than a paperweight
