For those of you who don't know, Walther is offering a $100 mail-in rebate for several of their handguns as long as you purchase them before September 15. I'm seriously considering picking up a PPQ M1 since you can find them online for about $480. How do they compare to other polymer-framed striker-fired handguns? I don't own any, so I have nothing to compare it by, but I've heard nothing but good things about it.

There are a few other rebates going on right now (HK and Springfield are offering free magazines with proof of purchase or something), but I think Walther's is the best.
>>
>>35037342
Do it! The PPQ looks ugly as sin, but is an excellent gun.
>>
>>35037342
Solid trigger pull out of the factory, I think it is a good gun. Smallish, Lightish and I like the Euro mag release but that might just be me.
>>
>>35037342
my gun will be a p99 :D
>>
I've been thinking about getting a PPQ as well, but I'm also considering a P10C. I've heard both of their triggers are great for striker-fired pistols. Is there any major difference between the two or should I just go with what ever is cheaper?
>>
>>35037892

Things that speak in favor of the PPQ: larger aftermarket, magazines readily available, slide-release works fine
Things that speak in favor of the P10C: compatible with many Glock 19 holsters, aggressive grip texture, no finger grooves

Things that speak against the PPQ: mags tend to be expensive as shit, higher bore-axis than P10C, general look
Things that speak against the P10C: almost non-existant aftermarket, aggressive grip texture might be too aggressive, a couple of guys on Youtube (incl. Hickok45) had trouble releasing the slide with the slide-release and this problem doesn't seem not to go away with time
>>
>>35038214
I for sure have better followups on my 19 but I place much better on my PPQ M2. The trigger is like clicking your mouse, it's just fantastic.
>>
>>35037342
I just bought a ppq navy for $400 after the rebate. Its really a fantastic gun. As you already heard the trigger is just about perfect. It's acutally lighter than I would like it to be for a ccw. And the ergonomics are perfect, this gun fits my hand like a well worn glove. Even the M2 mag release is nicely done.
>>
Anyone have experience with the PK380? I'm considering suggesting it for someone with poor grip strength. I can't find one on the shelf at any local stores to try out.

The M2 PPQ is at CDNN for pretty cheap even before the rebate. They have several models and calibers for different prices. I got a PPS M2 in 9mm which is decent for $299 post rebate, but the LE is worth the extra just for the third magazine not to mention the night sights, and got the PPQ Navy with the threaded barrel which has been pure sex so far. The HK one is a $200 value for those overpriced magazines and the P30L is on sale at CDNN. The PPQ has a better trigger though.

Where the fuck can I find a Gen 1 P99? I've got a weird hankering for one, I don't really like the looks of their newer stuff
>>
>>35037342
Never buy a gun with a rebate. If the manufacturer has to practically give their shit away, then it's a sign that there's something wrong with the product.
>>
>>35039730
So all these guns are shit?

Or you own a small portion of the market and need to entice new customers that will come back in the future and before your new fan base.

Or competitors are dropping prices and you aren't differential enough to justify your higher price.

Or a plethora of other marketing reasons.

It's a marketing gimmick you goddamn mongrel. It's a means to spotlight their product, and FFLs can help them market it, giving them exposure, growing their customer base. Check yourself son
>>
>>35039465
Get it milled by L and M. You would still be well under the ~1100 a squishy would cost you.
>>
>>35039748
Yes, they are having serious issues with metallurgy right now.

Why does a company need to "entice" "their customers," though? If the product is good, then the company's pricing will be stable, like with how the gun market can't get enough Glocks right now.
>>
>>35037342
PPQ and PPS are a complete STEAL at $300 or so.

PPS is easily one of the best CC pistols on the market with the rebate.

Goddamn you're stupid. It's a means to draw new customers, bubba fudd who buys only Glock and Ruger, Hey Bubba check out this Walther they currently have a rebate going on. Bubba likes Walther, buys Walther, goes to his factory job the next morning and tells shows all his Bubba fudd friends. There, broke it down Barney level for you
>>
>>35039824
Because normies only recognize the Glock name, which is why Glock can release five generations of the same gun for over 30 years, and still make huge profits. Glock is the iPhone of guns.
>>
>>35039826
You should know better. There is no such thing as a free lunch. If it feels like Walther is giving these guns away, that's because they're only worth that much.
>>
>>35039846
You do know several different manufacturers do rebates every year, right? As other people have said, HK is also doing a rebate right now.
>>
>>35039730
Glock does rebates too, as does HK, as has S&W, and these are all respectable brands in terms of product quality (barring S&W sending a free AOW to an anon)
>>
>>35039843
>>35039837
All these excuses, and even some /tv/ cancer, but you still won't admit that there's a reason why Walther needs to run such a significant rebate on their guns in order to compete with Glock.

>>35039853
Yeah, on their VP turd, which no one wants. You'll never see them drop prices on their USP or on their rifles, though.

H&K also does it for the P30. The VP series pretty popular with my local LEO, lots of guys have been buying their own due to mag rebate and trigger. I dont own one but ive heard only good things
>>
>>35039882
They fucked up royally and didnt rifle a barrel for a S&W Shield, so it was technically a AOW smoothbore pistol. He sent it to S&W and i think they solved it. His doggos are alive.

It's not that the guns can't compete with Glock, it's just that the polymer striker-fired 9mm market is so saturated that the manufacturers need ways to differentiate themselves. It's like Coke vs Pepsi.

I don't even own a fucking Walther, I just understand how companies market to grow their customer base. You're a really low IQ motherfucker if you don't recognize the reasoning for the rebate. I admitted the reason, multiple times, yet you keep yapping on
>>
The striker-fired, polymer frame market is completely saturated. Glock dominates this market through superior brand recognition. No striker gun now has a USP (unique selling proposition) over its competitor. The only way to generate more sales is through price - especially in a very price sensitive market like the US. Also, polymer frame pistols don't count as luxury products. Their image doesn't suffer if they are sold to a cheaper price (luxury brands buy their products back so they don't get sold discounted).
>>
Almost every firearms manufacturer is doing a rebate right now. Everyone overproduced expecting Hillary to win and a panic to start. That didn't happen and they need to move inventory.

>The striker-fired, polymer frame market is completely saturated.
Here we go again.
>>
>>35040087
You seem to have the understanding of sales & marketing of an oyster. How would you genius sell something in an over saturated market?
>>
>>35040087
Ok, so are all cars shit because most manufacturers offer rebates on new cars? Offering rebates isn't the same as simply reducing the price because it allows the seller to generate more initial cash flows, while the rebate is paid back several months later. In the meantime, all those people who bought the original product are also buying accessories like magazines, holsters, etc. learn2economics

Sorry chump, I value the $ and quality for cost, the 1911 offers no more than fuddlore and neckbeard fantasy scenarios for the $, I'll stick with the $300 PPS while your broke ass struggles to feed your snowflake Ed Bauer Custom Autism Edition with nothing but +P+ Gold Standard (at $6 a round for true reliability).

That's my point. Yet Glocks seem to have no trouble selling. Because they continue to innovate, and they have actual appeal.

>>35040414
You were the one who randomly brought it up, so apparently $3000 1911's are pretty high on the list of things you think about every day.

glock has been borderline giving them away to leo for decades. that's how they captured and kept market share from the get go. that must mean they don't work!

you're a fucking idiot and you have know idea what you're talking about.
>>
>>35040471
That wasnt updating, they went BACK to a prior methodology on at least one thing (removed finger groves), added an ambi slide release, added magwell cutouts like many competitors already do.

the only real "innovations" here are the new finish (though time will tell) and a new barreling that may well just be snake oil.

Gen 1==>2 or gen 2==>3 may be considered innovation in that the designs are appreciably different with a few tweaks. Gen 5 is just Gen 4 with an ergo update to catch them up with many ambi/cutout competitors.

If Glock 5 is an innovation, you must think a yearly Honda Civic release is a god damn revolution in engineering.

>>35040493
Not him, but I swear Nana's was.

>>35040565
This isn't how to use the word "methodology."

Wow, great argument.

Also,
>not actually knowing what you're talking about before talking about it
If you think the only differences were the finish and the rifling, then you're not qualified to give your opinion.
