Designated shitting tank, you might even call it septic tank.

Stop, you're giving them suggestion. They might turn those things into high-velocity poop launchers.
>>
ok. it goes, it shoots. india better suited for artillery and nukes imo, tanks have little value except suppressing restive regions for their own concerns. it's neighbors and potential adversaries will just wipe their formations with tow's

It's a (literal) shit tank, no new innovations, just more of the same, and locally produced so they can be proud
As Robert Plant said in Kashmir , "oh all I see, turns to brown, as the sun burns the ground, and my eyes fill with sand, as I scan, this wasted land"

It has terrible armor layout with gigantic weakspots even on the front. Also heard about engine problems. And Pajeets will buy T-90MS, so that's it.

It's an alright tank. India has this odd position in that they have the defense budget to get a look at a lot of great tech and pick what they want in their own equipment, but they don't have the manufacturing know-how to put it all together. It's unfortunate, as it leaves them in the same position as a lot of other nations in that they have to buy several different models from several different suppliers to get what they really need.

As first-generation-indigenous tanks go, it's certainly done better than Turkey or Iran's offerings if only in terms of it's development. Performance is another story, and I feel it really depends on who they're fighting. As another anon said, it's fine for stomping angry natives, and if shit starts to go crazy in Indochina or Bangladesh and the need to secure borders, things should be fine. Like really everything the Indians build though, the real intended use is to fuck with Pakistan. In this case it would be a fairly matched tank, and would perhaps be one of the first tanks to test a radiological protection system in combat. With current trends, there's a chance it may go up against Chinese equipment, although the area of conflict in question is so tank unfriendly that the odds for this are low at best. In any case, I doubt any of India's tank units would survive long against the Chinese, even the better-equipped ones.

What? The Arjun is well known for having an absolute shitshow of a development that took ~30 years.

It's real and it can get around. That's more than I can say for the Al-Khilad. As for the Altay; having seen how roaches operate their armor, I feel it's pretty safe to assume it won't be ready for the next round of being blown to hell by pretty much everyone because everyone hates roaches. Trust me, I'm aware that this thing isn't impressive in any sense in terms of it's development cycle; I'm just saying that as far as generally India-tier militaries go, they could have done worse in building their own tank.

It's completely pointless for the Arjun to have NBC protection, since the Indian crew creates NBC conditions inside the tank.

Decent tank, which means for Indian military development: A full blown Cow-on-the-cross miracle.

HE-Poop would be the best ammo for the Arjun.Better for anti personel and just as effective as Indian APFSDS against tanks.

TBF Israel is a pretty advanced nation and it had plenty of western and soviet models to learn from.

But if a nation of latino monkeys managed to do better it would be extremely embarassing.

Another interim tank? Lmao, India allready went through 2 interim tanks and now a 3rd?!

Holy shit thats bad beyond belief.

For the record, India bought the T-72 and the T-90S as interim tanks waiting for the Arjun to finaly become the main tank for the Indian army. A fucking third interim tank is insanely absurd.

>>

Arjun 1 took so long to roll out that they bought t72 as interim.

Arjun 1 took so ridiculously long that Arjun 1 became out of date and had to be redesigned and upgraded into arjun 2.

Arjun 2 taking long so they're buying / making T90 domestically.

Its got more to do with the factory, they simply don't have the know how hence T90 comes with advisers and machinery that they're going to use to learn mass production again.

Corruption in their universities and training programs which produces sub par experts, those experts then go on to teach their underlings using the same teaching method they were subject to. This means you get poor quality control and problem solving skills as well as lack of consistency, two factories can produce the same product using the exact same machinery but the quality of the end product will vary greatly.
