Yeah, that's the hard part. It's particularly important that the title sounds right when dealing with other companies, and the problem with something like "director" is that in the business world it implies that you're in charge of a department but aren't the big boss of the company. IMO Benchmade isn't worth it anymore, unless you're really really in love with the AXIS lock. There are better options for the money, like Spyderco and ZT if you're into big first-world brands, and Kizer, WE, etc. if you're OK with Chinese-made stuff, and they all offer better steels, handle materials, actions, and build quality than Benchmade does. The only exception is Benchmade's really great customer service, but even that isn't enough to sway me anymore.

I say this as somebody who owns four BMs and has used them heavily, and who doesn't shy away from spending big chunks of change on knives, too.

I don't really understand it that well either, and they make it really tough to find accurate and up to date info on exactly how it works in any given county. I think what would happen if you had a permit and then moved to somewhere like LA is that your permit would stay valid until its expiration date (and CA CCWs seem to generally be only a year or two) and then you'd be fucked for renewing it. That said, I'm not even sure if LA recognizes other counties' CCWs, I'd seriously consider moving to Orange County and commuting back to LA if it meant I could carry, but I can't find a straight answer on whether an OC permit is valid in LA.
