So, I have, but, the problem is (1) there aren't a lot because some of these guns are from the 70s/not super popular and (2) the wide variety of completed sales can go down to like 250$ and up to like 700$.

Well, it costs different in different markets, and it also dependent on if it was like a police trade-in or a civilian pistol.

$300-400 is normal, the Gen 1 models might be a bit more for antique/rarity stuff. You'll mostly find Gen 3's and a couple of 2's. I suggest the Gen 3, really love mine, good guns. Heavy as fuck, but you know it's solid.

Is there any one particular style of action in the Gen 3s you like?

I've heard a LOT of great things about the all steel Gen 3s.

Yeah, I like the all steels. Never seen one of the aluminum frames, at least in the double stack variety. The singles seemed like nice little carry pistols, but I have two 5906's. I like the steel; like I said, hefty, but might as well go all the way.

To be fair, these aren't revolvers and they already got their money. There isn't a new one to buy anymore. Unfortunately.

Alloy frames are generally cheaper, so good conditions should sit around the 300-400 range. Steel 9mms should be a bit higher than that, though at 500+ you're probably better off getting something more modern unless you're going for it as a collector.

The .45s are fun times, and can generally be had 500-700.

I'm interested in a Model 39 or 59 Gen 1/2. Is there any reason to get the single stack over the double stack?

Collector's purposes, imo. Otherwise, no. My FFL has an original 39 (not an A) for $299. Decent deal but it is beat to shit.
