My favorite part of these is the use of words. Journalists are very good at using connotation to reinforce the narrative of the piece without changing it's actual content. Like saying "Congress failed to renew the awb" at the end rather than just saying "the awb wasn't renewed" or "Congress didn't renew the awb". Makes it sound like it was what was desired and expected but not what we got by some failure of the politicians.

To be fair every single word she said was taken out of context. There's no way of knowing exactly what she was saying with respect to that. The question "what does more damage" could easily have been posed to her and a fraction of the invariably lengthy explanation pulled for the sake of the segment. What she was saying and pointing out could have been when she was explaining fragmentation or over penetration. Something like .223 with a rifle length barrel can ice pick at close ranges where a pistol cartridge will only ever expand
