Bumped into this sub machine gun in a Chinese museum and it seems that even the museum failed to identify it.
Anyone got any idea what it is?

A Tommy gun inspired bastard of an SMG.
Note the magazine release.

I seea Mauser stock and a Thompson magazine release. Could be a cobbled together hodgepodge made out of bits of different guns. Judging by the magazine taper 7.63 Mauser.

Might be a prototype Japanese SMG. They tested a few designs during their war with China. It could also be a locally produced design too. There was a huge gun cottage industry in China back in the 20's and 30's.

That is nowhere near the same gun.

I want to see Ian fingerfuck one of these. And shoot one but he hasn't shot a lot of rare funs lately.

There's a few key differences. The gun OP posted doesn't appear to have a charging handle on top of the receiver like the M1928 does. Also the fact that the forgrip actually goes before the magwell probably means a completely different receiver design in general.

I read somewhere that it's called a Kuomitang model of 1944. There isn't a lot of documentations out there on it but that's what I could find
