My M1's bolt won't lock back no matter what I do. What do?

You have to push the button on the slide for it to lock. Pull it back and then push down on the button

either your pin sheared off or the detent is smashed out.
Ive dealt with this on a few marlin 60s.
People just smash them shut instead of disengaging it.
Postwar reprofag reporting in. My Plainfield set me back $595 from my local pawn shop. It's a nice gun but it's not full compatible with USGI stocks or barrels. I tried using a surplus stock on it for awhile but there wasn't enough room for the slide to cycle smoothly. So now I just can't use it with a sling.
