Body Armor Requirements. I always hear the argument for Level 4 armor being that the military will have AP rounds. How common is it for soldiers to even be issued AP rounds?

New standard issue "ball" has a very large (compared to M855) steel penetrator.

But ceramics behave differently then steel, same with Poly plates. Im curious how they would do against the new A1 rounds. I have seen poly ceramic combos plates rated for 308 AND green tip (i know its not nij certified) but there are videos of people shooting them and the plates stopping them.

Level III ceramics may or may not, there's videos of it but I haven't seen lab results.
Right now the military's impetus to keep issuing Level IV ESAPI plates are because of API 7.62x54R 7BZ3, and API 7.62x39 BZ which I haven't seen any tests of against Level III plates.

M885A1 and 7N10 (standart ball ammo of militaries) are basically AP ammo that can go through many types of III+ plates (steel and UHMWPE).
>x39,x54r, and 5.45 tend to have penetrators
Old x39,x54r, and 5.45 had non heat treated mild steel penetrators and are not so hot from AP POV.

III++. Would this stop them? I'm wondering if III++ would stop anything short of actually designated AP rounds

Isn't that just IV?
>>35022251
Not quite its still just poly but can stop green tip. It won't stop AP rounds like level IV would but is only 4 lbs
