Does anyone here still carry one?
Which model and how long have you carried it?
I want a SAK for nostalgia but also I can use it and still be considered a normie.

Looking at getting the deluxe tinker (pic related) but I'm worried that like most things made now they aren't the same quality.
>>
Swiss Cybertool M in Red

Can't be arsed to carry my iFixIt kit everywhere i go so this comes in handy for destroying old HDDs

Just got it about a month ago as a gift from my Swiss friend who came to visit, they don't carry this model in Singapore where i live.

Used to carry a Spartan in Camo, it's blade is dull AF now after a good 8 years or so of use, still good enough to open letters and chinese packages so it sits near my desk

Carry my SAK everyday. Super useful, I love it.

How about some resharpening?
>>
>>35019899
Forgot the say I carry it since 3 years
>>

Absolutely nothing.
>>
>>35019921
Got a feeling he might be one of those fags that believes in keeping the virginity of the blade even if that means that the blade won't be usable for what it was actually made for.
>>
>>35019945
Sharpened it once halfway through its life, never could get it back to factory sharp

Now that i do have a new daily carry it's enough for the mail opening that it does
>>
I honestly use the scissors, pliers, screwdriver, and knife most on my multitool in that order. Losing half of those (don't particularly like the Phillips head on the Swiss army knife), and not having a pocket clip makes it difficult to justify carrying one, but I have a number of them kicking around.
>>
>>35019972
Not bad.
>>
>>35019972
>factory sharp
I don't think it's possible too. You can get it "good enough" but the steel is a little soft to really get a good edge on it.
>>
just used mine to make a bunch of kindling. worked really well
>>
One Victorinox or another has been in my hip pocket almost continuously for nearly a quarter of a century now. My current EDC is a SwissChamp.

>dem pliers
>dat ballpoint
>dat eyeglasses size flathead

I'm basically a heavily armed, utterly amoral MacGyver.
>>
>>35020158
Which one of you autists listed every SAK used in every Macgyver episode?

www.macgyveronline.com/database/saks
>>
I still carry mine almost daily, comes in handy all the time.
>>
I prefer Leatherman since
A. They have pliers, which are arguably more useful than a blade
B. The s30v blade on my Leatherman beats any SAK blade anyways

/k/ was weird about these about 6 years ago. For EDC they advocated carrying a multitool, then to the single blade picket knives. I love mine but need to get a new one.

>>

Their made out of cheap stainless, blades won't hold an edge and tools bend
>>
>>35020462
Victorinox Explorer, I needed a corkscrew AND a Phillips screwdriver, it's one of the few models that offer this. Some models came with these screwdrivers that are perpendicular to the SAK when fully opened, I didn't like those.

I carry either the custom white scaled Spartan I had personalized at the factory outlet in Lichtenstein or the Swiss military knife with aluminum scales from 1996 I bought at a gun show for $5. Fuck I love these knives, I've carried one of some description every day since I was 8 years old.

I still carry a swiss. My everyday tasks don't involve batoning wood or repairing machinery, so the swiss sits right in that middle ground between dedicated blade and a folding toolbox. Plus it doesn't spook the normies when I pull it out. Nostalgia is a factor as well for sure, my first knife was a sak. G-pops gave it to me when I was like 4 or something, carried that little thing everywhere
>>
>>35021202
So can i, but those are vastly different steels anon. The blade material and thickness are my only issues with basic SAKs and the reason I like the Rangers better.
>>
>>35019009
Workchamp
>Pliers
>4" metal file
>Locking blade

Edc one of their newish locking folders everyday
>>
>>35025393
Any SAK can be pretty easily sharpened since the steel is so soft, you're just being autist.
>>
>>35025416
Checking this thread out because muh nostalgia and I had no idea they made sak's with locking blades. Definitely getting one now.
>>
>>35019859
I just wish they made them without the fucking tweezers and toothpick.
>>
>>35019009
i have a camping version that i cant find on their website that has everything i look for in a leatherman except pliers. an excellent wood saw, a file that leaves a little to be desired (multitool files are best used for cutting metal and the swiss file has no proper edge for it).

and plenty of other tools. outside of the lack of pliers which is a fairly major loss, the swiss army knife is probably the best multitool

ALOX/93mm. Not only do they lack the toothpick and tweezers, they're also slimmer than the plastic models and have nice aluminum handles. I EDC'd a Pioneer until I somehow lost it last week.
>>
>>35027625
I totally would if I could keep it in a pocket. Those cases on your belt looks really stupid.
>>
>>35019845
Why are those Cybertools so damned expensive? I'd get one if they were cheaper.
>>
>>35019009
It's not part of my EDC but I certainly have it and carry it. Picked one up about 7 years ago on a trip to Switzerland, hand it custom made in Zermatt.

It's a Suisse Officier with M81 woodland plates instead of the standard red ones. Picked up a nice Victorinox case for it in a store across the street from where I had it made that's held up just as well as the knife.

I'd say it's about perfect for what a swiss army knife should be, anything more should be handled by a Leatherman, anything less could be done with a pocket folder.

I would never leave home without one of my SAK's.

My personal favorite is the alox series. The reamer is the best tool on any sak. It's sharp enough to open anything i dont want to use my main blade on, it's a great pipe cleaner, and it actually works in making holes in wood and drywall.

>>
I don't know what it is, but I seem to have bad luck when it comes to Swiss Army stuff. I've never lost a folder or a Leatherman, but I've lost numerous SAKs. Maybe it's the lack of a pocket clip.

I lost my limited edition grey Pioneer the other day, and instead of directly replacing it I decided to get a new Swisstool Spirit instead, to replace one I lost a few years ago. Great tool, the build quality blows everything comparable out of the water and it manages to pack more functionality into less space than anything else out there. The stupid blunt serrated blade sucks, but I always carry an actual folder in addition to an SAK/MT so it's not a big deal.

Bump for the humble SAK
>>
>>35029967
Like >>35032314 said, they were a bit worse quality-wise than Vics, but they're still decent.

Wenger was also more willing to gamble with less conventional tools and combinations though, and some of their tools work a bit better compared to the Vic equivalents.

Victorinox bought them and maintained them as separate brands for awhile, but eventually phased them out and rebranded all the good Wenger models into Vic models.
