So I've come to the realization that these might be the most /k/ boots available.
>used in 'nam
>used in Rhodesia
>possibly used by the French today
>in between SS jackboots and normal "fasionable" boots
>sexy

So what this thread is for is to find the cheapest, highest quality option available. Be it local or commercial shops or online sellers, we have to find the best options along with the best sizing. Thanks
>>
Good choice, OP. The only ranger boots in the world that let water in without letting it out.

I have a pair. They're pretty uncomfortable. Get yourself a pair of Corcoran jump boots.

>comfy
>stylish
>American made
>good for kicking in in the heads of Nazi's and Commie's alike
>>
>>35016374
Is this true? Elaborate and share more facts, I may have to rethink this then
>>35016402
I do like them, tell me more

OP, they will destroy your feet, trust me

They look like a 1:1 copy of the american M1943 boots.

What's wrong with that?

It's a common joke among french soldiers. But joke aside, they are notoriously shit.
>>
>>35016281
>buying boots because they look cool
>buying boots because some military uses them

I'll tell you a secret: Every military on this planet buys the "as cheap as possible" solution. Quality and lol comfort are second

If you want boots that wont hurt your feet/ankles/legs on the long run, go for civilian hiking boots AND NOT THE FUCKING LOOK
>>

>>35016416
WW2 paratrooper boots. Still made by the Corcoran company to this day. Comfy as hell. Come in brown, black, and I think sage too. Usually run about $160+. Really uncomfortable to break in, but once you do they're great. Expect to resole in a year or two, depending on use.
>>
>>35016440
But that's gay. Being a sissy and caring about looks is chad tier compared to that. On a serious note, what are a good balance of both?
>>35016436
Shit, I guess I'll have to look at other options. Thanks for heads ups

Interesting, how about the soles? I've only seen flat, and the others are school shooter level, which isn't necessarily bad, but a bit off putting. I do want a mostly multi terrain boot though

Standard combat boot, al though there is a thint leat her padding. So throw in an insert if you need it. I never did but to each his own.

Meant outsole, but that's helpful too
>>
>>35016515
Oh gotcha. Nothing fancy. Again, standard combat boot. I wore my every day for a year before the heels started to wear out. Got them resolved with thicker rubber and they're still going strong two years later.

They look like just black jungle boots.
US used them in the 80's and 90's.

There are a few more options for traditional leather boots
>Austrian Paratrooper boots
Known as "Feldschuhe Leicht", also available new at a very fair price.
https://www.steinadler.com/en/shop/product/STGL3851/1001/steinkogler-austrian-light-infantry-boot
There's also the heavy austrian boots, but they might be too heavy for most people.
>Rufflander ankle boots
More WW2 style.
https://www.rufflander.co.uk/shop/heritage-footwear/107f-brown-zug-grain-field-boot/
>>
>>35016678
Fantastic, I remember the austrians being a meme on /fa/, but that's for good reason. A bit expensive though, so tell me more if you can. Does it ship to the US? Is it true to size? Thank you
>>
>>35016281
>in between SS jackboots and normal "fasionable" boots
They look nothing like SS jackboots, you jackboot.
>>
>>35016725
I meant it as the leather top part mostly. It's reminiscent of the slim full leather fit of the jackboots. Also, I will steal your insult
>>
Is there any combat boot where you won't look like a fucking autist if you wear it ?
>>
>>35016757
Israeli combat boots, they look like all black converse hi-tops with boot tread.
They make civilian versions in other colors.
>>
>>35016711
I bought these once. It's thick leather, strong welt and soles... didn't fit on one foot (I have very slightly uneven feet). Sold them on to someone who liked the size apparently, so I guess you can get lucky or not.

Communists are an actual group of people with distinct beliefs.
It doesn't fucking mean "person I don't like", you mong. Calling everyone a commie diminishes the severity of someone being an actual fucking communist.

Varusteleka ankle boots, based on norwegian combat boots I believe. Most people seem to like them and they look very civilian.

Btw. why are combat boots black all the time? Is there any reason besides aesthetics?

I guess the die is cheap, and it can versatile for both combat and parade. That's just my opinion. I think their aesthetics are god tier

>>
>>35016463
i had gotten 2 out of mine before they needed to resole, and that was wearing them everywhere, to work, riding dirt bikes, innawoods, everywhere.

>>35016678
kommandostore had them a while back. i got a pair
>>
>>35016281
These were the worst fucking boots I've ever worn. During my brief several months in the legion, I lost sensation in half of my big toe, and it took 5 months for it to return. 6 guys on my farm had to go to the medic for foot issues because of those stupid things. I don't know if French feet are different from everyone else's, but the sizing was retarded. Way too narrow, and weirdly shaped toe box.
>>
military surplus boots suck dick.
>>
>>35016934
Damn, I hope you're well now. I stay away from them, Austrians are my most likely bet now. Any stories from the legion?
>>
>>35016943
Canuck issue boots are alright. Not spectacular, and obviously heavier than the high speed operator civvie market, but at least they're cut to normal foot shapes.

>>35016946
Yeah, this was like 4 years ago. Feet recovered, it just takes a while for nerve damage to fix itself.

No particularly notable stories, since I was only in for 3 months. Asked to go civil after the farm, after I talked to enough legionnaires and caporaux to determine that spending the next 5 years of my life in the Legion would be a waste of time.

As previously stated, the French boots are uncomfortable as fuck. You don't break them in, they break you in.

They are designed to be worn with F1 style pants. Those things have very high elactic ankles. In the French army you're supposed to wear long socks that you roll over the top strap of the boot, and then the elastic ankle of the pants goes over the top strap as well.
This means tucking pants into them isn't particularly comfortable, and when wearing pants over them the straps and buckles might wear the pants out.

Also thay aren't particularly durable. Heat can melt the glue, causing the soles to fall off.

Pic related is a lot of about 100 pairs of French rangers we bought with friends, mostly for the hell of it and shenanigans and because they were cheap. I've seen the many ways those things can get worn out in use or storage, and it's not pretty.
Anyway, get modern hiking boots or "tactical" boots for about 100 and be done with it. We have the technology to make boots that fit like slippers the first time you put them on and are both waterproof and breathable. It's worth it.

>>35019720
Duckboots are fuddcore, but they're probably the warmest, comfiest boots ever made.
>>
>>35019782
oh god, we got some private in our company in 2004. they had those boots as the only boots they were issued at basic. they didn't have any polish, because they were told not to polish them. then the crusty old SFC in charge of their section tells them to polish their boots. after a few minutes of trying to argue that they aren't supposed to, they lose.

Next day they come in and their boots looked like absolute ass. they didn't know how to polish boots at all. (well duh, since no one at basic trained them and they never practiced during AIT). the SFC gets all fanny flustered about it to. So he has his sgts spend all day with those privates. teaching them how to shine boots.

which still didn't work out well. because something about the leather just makes it impossible. though at least it looked like a basic bitch brush shine.

I've been using my Austrian surplus boots for working in the vineyard this season. They're working out pretty great. Real comfy once broken in (6-8 hours; about half of that walking) and my feet don't get wet from irrigation/dew like with Nike SFBs. Also I thought I would have problems with them being hot (was 110 degrees Monday) but they're doing just fine with some talcum powder in the socks in the morning. Thinking of getting Corcoran work boots next. Similar aesthetic to the jump boots but they have a modern sole and they're storm welted.

>>
>>35016281
I've got a pair of 60's era USGI combat boots and they're so comfortable. I wear a 14R and I'd love to find more pairs. I got these on EBay. They're the early, all leather boots and I love them to death. They're still going strong after around 45 years.
>>
>>35016661
Ahhhhahaha I hope you're joking. The basic issue shit for the army is $80. The most expensive 670-1 approved boot are Rockies S2Vs. Great boots, love them, but there are non reg boots that are much better.
The basic boots are fucking uncomfortable dog shit.
