Alright guys, so I decided to get an optic for my bulgy 74. Wanting to get a combloc optic, as it just looks right. I think the low profile, co-witness ones are pure sex. Question: PK-01 VS or PK-A Venezuela? Is the $100 price difference worth it? What do you guys think? There's not so much info regarding the two except for the files and Russian optics, so any personal experience would be fantastic!

I believe the biggest difference is weight, the Venezuela being a bit heavier. Otherwise battery life, durability, and functionality are pretty comparable.

I was dead set on a Venezuela but found a new VS for a damn good price on eBay so opted for that on instead. Great optic all around. Easy to zero, great battery life.

Yeah they don't fuck around. We got dirty looks when edgelord me and my friend were joking around in the train station and threw a heil as part of some other joke without thinking about where we were. I think we got a pass because we were speaking English very loudly and they figured we were just dumb Americans.

Their cops don't fuck around though, subway patrols had one radio per 5 or 6 guys and they just roamed around in packs like gangs and we saw a woman get black bagged in the Marienplatz. Half a dozen cop cars pulled up, surrounded her, grabbed her and took off. One of our guys almost got detained at the Austrian border because he left his passport in the hotel room. Now that I'm typing it all out a lot of shit happened on that trip.

Only thing I don't like about the 74M is that he kept the original gas block, which I don't really like to begin with, and is also definitively wrong with the year he had engraved on the trunnion. The stock pin is definitely not a cucked pin, or it's a replacement of a cucked pin which isn't a big deal. The trunnion is impossible to tell if it's been cucked or not. The stock has a non-cucked hinge but it's impossible to tell whether or not it has the Izhmash logo. And the pistol grip reinforcement plate appears to be the larger akbuilder one rather than a Marshall Arms plate.

1973 AKMS from a PLO kit.. that means cast AKM gas block which makes them visually different from the Rguns 1968/69 kits as well as visually different from most every other AKM ever made because countries like Romania and Poland never picked up the cast gas blocks for AKMs.

And since it's a PLO kit that means it's the original barrel. As in, the barrel is obviously Russian, and it's never been removed from the trunnion. The headspace with the serno matching bolt is what was set at the Izhevsk factory in 1973. This is an assumption and may not be correct, but he finish on the entire barrel assembly looks 1973 vintage, with the paint barely hanging on in most places and a patina forming everywhere it has flaked off.

Also since it's a PLO kit, every single part, down to the pistol grip nut, are all from the exact same cut up gun that the Israelis captured from the PLO. That's why even non-serno-matching PLO kits are cool to me, because it's still an exact parts kit made from a single rifle. As opposed to the Rguns 1988 kits which you are almost guaranteed that most of the parts are from different rifles.

Oh, and that also means that this isn't some random AKM kit that somebody added an underfolder (usually Polish)stock to. That actual serialized rifle was originally made as an AKMS.

The pistol grip plate is probably not original, the trunnions may have had some nicks taken out of them in the chop process, and the receiver is a nodak but all that is heavily outweighed by everything that makes this build SO CHOICE imo.

Also scratch that about the barrel never having been removed from the trunnion.. it would have had to been for the chop and build process. But the barrel components are unmolested and the headspace is still at the original setting.

Like nowhere else has people that get all excited about the same stuff I get excited about and find interesting. Sure there are hyper mega turbo AK autists on the AKF or Files but it's different there, users there have all have a false ego that they're behind. Not that that's a bad thing for a lot of them but it's still there and it's less genuine than it is here when it comes to the good kind of AK autism. I mean yeah there are egos here as well but it's a different kind of ego that doesn't subtract from /akg/ and 99.999% of the time it's a non issue

AK autism is just genuine here in a good way and /akg/ is truly the only AK forum where it feels true like that. Sure there are shitposts and stuff like that (I love to shitpost tbhfamalambbq) but at the core it's genuine interest in even the most minute details of the rifle and I thoroughly enjoy it
