Any thoughts on Ruger 10/22 variants like Carbine, Takedown, Takedown Lite, etc.? They're way more expensive, but they have some useful features.
I'm buying for range use.

takeddown is a convenience. dont get a takedown if you are planning to heavily mod it or are going to scope it

What kind of mods do people do on it? This will be my first rifle, so I don't really know.
Why not scope a Takedown?
Also thoughts on the Marlin 60? Looks good but did the quality go down since they got Freedom Group'd?

If its for range use you dont need the takedown so definitely just get the cheapo one which is the carbine and then go crazy and play legos with it and mod the shit out of it and learn

I have one made in '94 that'll make one ragged hole at 50 yards with a full tube. Couldn't tell you the last time I cleaned it, either.
Can't tell you anything about the new ones, though.

magpul has an optic mount ring for their back packer stock.

>Why not scope a Takedown?
because the return to zero isnt perfect its close(youd never notice a change with irons) but not exact.
I like the lighter weight variants with a butler creek folding stock, makes for a great backpack gun, better than a takedown imo
call me stupid but wouldn't it make more sense to design it with a folding stock rather than compromise its structural integrity by separating the fucking action from the barrel?
Ruger idiots.

I think in some states a folding stock classifies it as an assault rifle making it illegal to purchase. (Maryland California etc.)
Thanks for the answers guys.
