Having trouble finding the "standard issue" infantry musket/rifle for US forces. From what I find the Springfield 1842 is one of the more commonly cited ones, but I don't know if it was standard. The Mexicans used an Indian pattern Brown Bess.
Also looking for the types of sabers and melee used by both sides.
General discussion of the war is welcome.
find the caliber of round the Springfield fired then look up muskets of that era that used the same. most likely will find that US used multiple rifles since they never really had a large standing army and when war broke out they needed to scramble for firearms.

I often hear .69 was used in the war, which is what the Springfield 1842 was chambered in.
Just confusing since most of those sources claim "flintlock" despite the 1842 being percussion.
