I'm headed to my LGS to buy a new Benelli MR1 for $475. I ended up talking the dude down and he's throwing in a few STANAG mags and a Lancer 20, a range trip, and some other stupid shit.

He's just grateful he's found someone interested in the gun and he doesn't care if he's losing money on it.

Anyone have a list of the plastic parts they've been putting on new made guns?

The safety looks and feels like plastic, the trigger feels like plastic, but i think its just the coating they use.

The trigger is composite. Plastic over metal.
The mag catch is plastic.
The guide rod is plastic.
The safety is plastic.

Bought the 90-Two belt holster for my 90-Two.

Kind of disappointed since it's basically just the regular holster with the 90-Two logo on it. I thought it would fit the gun when it has the rail protector, but still a tight squeeze. Now I leave the protector at home when I carry the thing.
>>
>>35011256
Sans protector, I imagine that most of the safariland or Blackhawk for the 92a1 would fit it.

One the rail cover comes off its not that bad. The styling itself isn't terrible but this is the one time I'll ever bitch about the slide safety because it looks like ass with the slide serrations.

Where can I get factory walnut gripz for this 21A and for this 8000? I cannot find them anywhere.
>>
>>35013386
The only negatives are the aesthetics, which includes the rail covers. A good chunk of what ended up in the A1s and A3 came from the 90-two. The rail, the replaceable sights, the swapable backstrap, the beveled mag well the recoil buffer etc. Its a well optioned gun, it just came out around the same time as the cx4 and px4 and got the same styling which doesn't work nearly as well. When if came out it was top of the line and THAT is why people would want it. Now there are more options but it remains a piece of beretta history
>>
>>35015222
So with that in mind. In reference to my question:
>Why would anyone with eyes buy this over the aesthetically superior 92A1?
In this day and age there's no reason outside of collecting.

>>35015518
Oh ffs apply yourself a little. Outside of the fact that the look is going to appeal to,some people the way the px4 and 9000 did, it still a very nicely optioned gun that's often found for a good price. Not looking AS good doesn't make it any worse of a gun. If you want to go purely on looks the FS AND A1s aren't even the best looking

Never said it was a bad gun. But when A1s do everything they do without making children sick the reasons to own one dwindle down to novelty. Style matters.

>>
>>35016362
Its a wonder 9. You don't need a reason to own one. They're practicality is proven by their respective track records. With the exception of strikers, the only reason to pick one over another is aesthetics.
>>
>>35016417
I shoot my guns. Uniqueness isn't a priority to me. Inb4 then why not just buy glocks. I shoot my guns for enjoyment as much as practice.
>>
>>35016480
Good thing this isn't about why you personally would or wouldn't buy a 90 then. If you want to make it purely about function it still a cheaper way of getting some of the A3 features not found on the A1 or Vertec without paying for the A3. You don't like it, that's fine, nobody is trying to sell you one

So, I haven't bought either yet. I was going to buy the MR1 however the Neos carbine caught my eye. Unfortunately I'm living off NEETbux so I'll have to choose one or the other.

$475 MR1 or $600 NEOS Carbine with 5k rounds of bulk .22LR. I'm only in the area for a couple more weeks before I move, so I can't exactly come back and pick up the other especially since the Neos is being sold by a dude who is also in the process of moving. I have an AR-15 and a couple other .223 semi automatic rifles, but I don't have a semi automatic .22 of any sort. I'm really kicking myself on this one, I want both guns but I'm in a shitty position where I have to choose one and only one.
>>
I dont know shit about barretas but im very interested in getting one in 9mm. I have no idea which model i should get, i really enjoy my 1911 and im not a fan of DA only triggers. Can anyone give me a good option based on what ive said?
>>
>>35017093
>does nothing a1s cant

Actually the 90-Two can swap grip sizes. Also the safety lever is canted (like the A3) making it less likely trip the safety lever while racking the slide. It also has a much larger grip area on the slide which makes it noticeably easier to rack the slide. Not really game-changing additions, but it's far enough to make the claim that the A1 has every feature of the 90-Two egregiously incorrect.

Sure, only if you give us a budget though.
The D is DAO so avoid that, anything else is fine. If you NEED frame controls the original 92 has one as do the Steel, Combat, Centennial and Billinium. Alternately get a Taurus PT92 or have a Beretta converted by Allegheny Gun Works. If you want something smaller and don't need to shoot 9mm the 80 series comes in double or single stack .22lr, .32acp and .380acp with all the 92 series looks and quality

I was looking at the 92s for 300 bucks on classic firearms for my first handgun. Are they good/worth it?
>>

yes absolutely. get it, get a new barrel, new locking block, new slide (totally optional, get it if you want that new look) an youve got yourself pretty much a brand new pistol.

Do they take barrels from other models like the 92fs? I'd eventually like to get a threaded barrel further down the road.

Why the fuck do you keep saying this. He could just buy a goddamn 92FS from the start of he wanted to throw money at a Beretta

because you can take your time doing it piece by piece. obviously if hes looking at a surplus 92s for 300 bucks he wants to be a poorfag about it, so over time he can buy the necessary parts and in the end have a like new pistol for less than the cost of a new one and without paying full price up front.

I'm starting to realize I should just get a new block to go with it so I can hot-swap between the two barrels whenever I want..

I was just given my grandad's Browning BDA 380 (made by Beretta in 1982). It has a decocking lever like the Beretta 92, and when you use it, it brings the hammer pretty forcefully back to the decocked position. Can someone explain why the decocker doesn't cause the firing pin to strike the cartridge when using the decocker? It seems like it falls hard enough to, but I'm not familiar with this style of handgun.
>>
>>35024562
Or just have it refinished for less instead of replacing half the gun and 92fs aren't expensive anymore. If he needs to be a poorfag he may do layaway

Because it has a hammer block to rotates in front of the hammer, stopping it from contacting the firing pin. You can actually see it working if you look at the rear of the slise. I miss mine so much .

Of you want more mags ,look for beretta 84/85 mags, not BDA or 140 DA mags

A: Because you're lying.

Nothing is more important to me then safety. The greatest fear I have is not being able to draw in time or getting robbed of my valuables but of accidentally discharging into an innocent bystander. Having that trigger disengaged with the safety on with a heavish DA trigger pull puts my mind at such ease. I know there is absolutely no way this weapon can discharge without my focused intent.

Jesus, your roody-poo ass is acting like he's giving his gun to a stranger and letting them walk of with it. By your logic, firearms training classes and rental firearms shouldn't exist.

The reality is that he was already at a shooting range and it literally takes only a coupe of minutes to go over basic firearms safety. Plus, the guest even brought their own ammo so it's not like it's really costing him anything. If you really can't be bothered to put in the effort to be hospitable then you're socially inept which brings me back to the point of having no friends/can't make new friends.

It's behaviour like that that is painting a negative picture about the gun community.

So, excuse the shitty photoshop.

I tried to construct what one might look like.

Decided to go with the Inox slide version to achieve a nice two-tone effect, since not much of the barrel is showing. I figured it would probably have the extended barrel for threading options. Assume that it has the upgraded steel trigger and components. Since it is a newer version of the "Samurai Edge", I opted for the newer-style "CUSTOM KENDO SHOP" engraving over the "Mod. SAMURAI EDGE" one. Then the last touch would be somehow getting a custom hogue-style grip with the traditional grip look on it. Probably wouldn't be too hard. Make a couple calls and pay a bit extra.

Oh, and add a light/laser if you want.

Ok.
I carry my 92 every day. It is work in ways that a little Shield is not, but I like it.
Don't be too swayed by up-front price. I strongly suggest getting a more modern 90-series gun over the original 92 or 92s if you are getting it for practical use. Mag compatibility, holster choices, and any number of other considerations favor the newer guns.
Maybe you aren't trying to be all tactical with it. That's fine. The older guns are an easy gateway to collecting, and make for fun range toys.

What are your criteria for this? If you are into retro Berettas, check out the 80-series as well. If you want something inexpensive, find a 9000. They can be had for around $250 or less most of the time.

price means a lot to me, i'm a total jew when buying and absolutely will not buy something if i don't feel like i'm getting the best deal off the current market
>I strongly suggest getting a more modern 90-series gun over the original 92 or 92s if you are getting it for practical use.
>Mag compatibility
as far as i know, any 92 series mag with the bottom cut will lock into the 92s
>holster choices
is the 92s profile that much different where you can't use [generic 92 holster]? it looks similar enough to the other models

it will be a range toy mostly, and when i get into CCW i will try to see if i can make it work for CC... I suspect it won't work out well but it may... so in the more likely event, it will end up as a glove box gun since i have a rifle in the house already. in which case i'll look into some other smaller CC handgun at that time.

i like something that works, is comfortable to hold and it just needs to look decent. scratches and wear marks don't mean anything to me unless it affects the function of the firearm. i've always had an interest in the 92 series (fullsize) just because it seems comfortable to shoot and has an aesthetic appeal to it, to me at least. I just never put more thought into it past window shopping just because i don't want to pay over 400 bucks for it since, as i said, i'm a total jew...

hence, the pricetag on the 92s imports has just renewed my interest, is all
>>
>>35042612
If you are going to Jew properly you have to evaluate lifecycle cost, not just sticker. You don't want to be the guy who dumps three grand into a car worth $500, right?
Modern 17 round OEM mags and 18 round MecGars cannot be cut to accommodate the heel release as the springs in those rest against the mag tube. You will be limited to some 15 or 10 round magazines. You don't seem like the type to hoard the things, so maybe that is a non-issue for you.
Many holsters rely heavily on the shape of the trigger guard. This changed a lot though the history of these guns. My Vertec will not fit properly in a holster meant for a 92a1 or a3.
>>
>>35042945
>Many holsters rely heavily on the shape of the trigger guard. This changed a lot though the history of these guns. My Vertec will not fit properly in a holster meant for a 92a1 or a3.
i did not know this, thanks for the tip

the difference between a 15 rd and a 17/18 rd doesn't even register to me.

the gun itself is worth to me a 500/600 dollar fullsize beretta, but shows some wear. like i said before scratches/wear marks i don't mind, so it feels like a good deal to me. replacing the barrel or recoil spring/guide rod or whatever just a bit sooner than usual doesn't matter to me, especially when its x years down the road anyway

>This statement can be flipped on the M9
Although none of the things bitched about in regard to the M9 are actually the fault of the gun, except for weight and capacity.

For fuck sake dude we know. Just like the TRS on CZs and the extractor on the 1911. It's getting to the point that it's like the guy who had an issue with his car once and now all issues with other cars are probably that same issue in his mind.
>>
>>35049042
Weight isn't even bad for its size , but that means fuck all when people are accustomed to polymer. The capacity is only an issue of the mil won't buy the 18-20rd mags that have been around for ages. The A3 should have been Centurian sized though, that's my only real complaint.

>>
>>35049123
The shorter slide and barrel don't make much sense for a service weapon. I'll tell you that I carry an 18 with to 20s in reserve when I have my service M9 on me. I've turned some of the officers/240 gunners on to them as well.

Return the grips.

Why would you tolerate that for even long enough to take a photo? That's unacceptable.
>>
>>35048423
>why the fuck did it get replaced with a Sig plastic pistol?
Because the M9 pistols in inventory are beat to shit after 30 years and since then polymer strikers have proven themselves feasible for use. Given that the current doctrine is to be able to train a lot of people as quickly and cheaply as possible to adequacy than having a few really proficient shooters, polymer strikers are much better suited for the task.

>When will BerettaFags realize that heavy outdated pistols are going to die out soon?
92fags like all the other Wonder Nine-lovers are the new-age fudds no different than the 1911fags before them and the revolverfags before them.

The 92fs is a nicer shooting gun. I've owned a bunch of Glocks and even a 320. The beretta is nicer shooting and I shoot it more accurately. It's plenty reliable for self defense and I shoot it more accurately.
Would a Glock 19 be more comfy? Sure, yes, it would be more comfy and it's probably a better edc on paper. The thing is I'm more accurate with the 92fs.

I think a better question is why you guys are so insecure about your choices that you feel the need to constantly attack other guns?

Oh, before I forget, SIG is new the new Kimber and while polymer guns might be the cat's meow, SIG is overpriced garbage from an unethical company that should recall half their products but doesn't.

Do the current production M9s not use the latest generation of locking block? I ask because I was reading about Langdon's optioned M9, and it mentions that it's installed with a better locking block than is standard for the model.

>>
>>35052928
The m9a1 and Vertec compatible holsters should work unless they are super snug on the rail. SLS and ALS safariland, Blackhawk serpas (ignore the memes. Serpas are fine with DA/SA guns.), And most kydex should be fine. Any of the pressed leather options for the above should work as long as you are willing to break them in.

Nigga, I own a Beretta and love it, but I can understand why it would be replaced.

But that's wrong, given the trends observed in service pistols as well as the actual use of said service pistols as well as the use of standard NATO spec ammo and the performance of pistol ammo to begin with.

You know, I don't actually know the velocity difference between a 4.9 and 4.3 inch barrel when using NATO spec 9mm. Guy was suggesting Centurion length guns, which are basically a compact slide on a standard frame.
What tends are you referring to? The adoption of the 19?

Ah, okay, thanks. I do really like the Beretta but if we are passing handguns out to teenagers to beat the shit out of int he desert, then I'd be inclined to suggest the simplest plastic gun might be a better choice.
>>
>>35056958
Eh. Watching some new Joes the first time they are issued handguns always makes me grateful for the safety. I can only speak for the Army, but there is almost no training time devoted to pistol use for infantrymen. It generally falls to whoever in the unit both knows the subject and is willing to teach.
>>

Neat.
>>
>>35056986
>there is almost no training time devoted to pistol use for infantrymen

THis is both not surprising and scary.

1. Most of the emphasis is on the rifle or primary weapon system, right? That's the one the Army really needs in the fight. Pistols are just kind of an afterthought.

2. You'd think they WOULD, however, spend more fucking time on pistols considering how often you have to wear one when deployed.
>>
>>35006635
put a scope on it instead
>>
>>35057796
Eh. My experience is with being a medic in an infantry unit. The M9 goes to some officers, 240 gunners, and me if I want one. The smaller, lighter m4 rather obviates the need for pistols in that context.
The gunners' time is better spent on the MG, as the Army insists on rating guys through all kinds of positions. It is good for cross training, but it means that guys frequently don't get to master one job before moving to the next.

Best Beretta ever made.
>>
>>35056955
I was the guy making the argument. Fact is that compact is the new standard because it's really not that small. Most duty guns are in the 3.8"-4.25" barrel length and 15-18rd capacity. NATO ball loses virtually nothing because it's in +p territory and its fmj. There are other compacts in service using this ammo with zero complaints. All that's gained with a longer slide is slightly more sight radius which won't mean much to a shooterm. Size and weight will because it's going to be dead weight in a gunner, MP or officers hip the vast majority of the time

Having shot a compact and a standard 92 back to back, I think that the different handling is not inconsequential. I shot .10 splits with the full, and .14 on average with the compact. Not huge, and neither is the 50 or so fps lost. Yeah, I took the time to glance at bbti to see. I get your point that the performance difference is small. Though I think that when comparing otherwise very similar weapons, the military would likely be swayed by whatever performance gains could be found. They seem to have precious little concern for how much we have to haul around.

I think I would shy away from citing a trend toward compacts as military service weapons. The 19 being adopted over the 17 is more of an aberration than an example of a pattern. Part of the reason for the idea behind the MHS having the option to be different sizes was to replace both the M9 and M11. The M11 was intended for IG/plainclothes use, so its replacement being similarly small hardly relates to tends in service sidearms.

>>35062025
I really wish my Vertec came with that checkering. The vertical serrations do very little for grip.

Are Vertecs still in production outside of the M9A3?
>>
>>35062407
Inox ones are on the site , but I don't know if they are being produced at the moment. With Beretta's move to TN, their production may be done in small batches, or they may be just selling off old stock still.

Depends on how you look at it. The lighter any given item is, the more total shit you can carry
>>
>>35063134
Now that is some leadership thinking. I like it. I was thinking about hard plates for thigh, abs, left shin, and a large one on the left forearm. Total added weight should only be about 26 pounds for the extra small version. I figure we could cut down to 1 liter water bladders to offset the weight difference.
