I found a poor enfield at a local pawn shop that needed some loving. It was 250 with the bayonet. What you think /k/?

year, model, maker?

Great deal assuming everything headspaces right.

I didn't even think to look. Its a no 4 mk 1 made in England.

pawn shop said he had it head spaced by their gunsmith and said it checked out.

Rear sight and grooved foreend were north american designs.

Holes in inside of the receiver are bubba from the looks of it. Steer clear.

That's not quite true, grooved handguards were common from a variety of manufacturers in the '41-42 period, and the Mk2 expedient sights were made by virtually everyone not just on Mk1* rifles. Of course this all means nothing since all kinds of parts from all over were put on them both during and post war.

Not with those holes drilled through the receiver wall. At some point someone tried to scope it.
Those holes in the receiver are a little funky....
I'd still buy it. $250 for an Enfield is a steal in 2017. That's 2010 prices, buddy.

So put a scope on it. What's the problem? This isn't a museum piece. Can you imagine if someone drilled holes on you for an attachment, and suddenly you were considered garbage by neckbeards and passed over for your added functionality?
Guns are people too.
