I can't really fault somebody for carrying a 1911 I guess.
As for modern day combat, it's lagging in a few ways.
Low capacity sticks out as a primary factor.
Still, neat guns that work well.

I believe a combination of fuddlore and the fact that some parts of the military still use it is what propels this sentiment. While outdated, no one can truly say that the 1911 isn't one of the great weapons of the modern era though, greatest is debatable.

You're just trolling if you think something like a glock 19 is inferior to it.

I'm finding it hard to think of a semi-automatic that has been more surpassed than the 1911; really just the old clip fed pistols with integral magazines like the Mannlichers and Mausers. They were slow to load and didn't have great cartridges.

The Luger was pretty equal to the 1911 though. It was just weaker because it was 9mm, but there's nothing wrong with that.
