Why are the prices on Beretta Cougars so low?
I know Stoeger makes them now, but you can get a used authentic Beretta Cougar in 40 or 9mm pretty cheap. Sometmes under 400. Some are beat up but a lot are in good shape.
Just seems like a quality firearm. I actually like the design, personally.

No market for a lot of these older steel or alloy framed handguns like the Cougar. You see the same shit with semi automatic modern sporting rifles, nobody is buying SU-16s, Benelli MR1s, Daewoos, FS200s, Steyr AUGSs, or any of these slightly antiquated or goofy designs so the price on these things have dropped substantially.
Good for me I guess since I like these old or goofy rifles.

Because most are not made by Beretta, they're made by Stoeger in Turkey, and sometimes people confuse the genuine Berettas with the Stoegers and price the accordingly.
It's pretty rare though, mostly the Berettas go for significantly more than the Stoegers. I waited to find one for a long time, maybe a year, before I finally found one in good condition at a good price. So if you are actually seeing clean Berettas for $400, buy one. They are most certainly worth more than that.

To be fair, chrome one pictured is pretty rare. Most seem to be blued. Also some of the police ones are pretty beat up
