The magazine is supposed to prevent that IF you load the Stripper clips correctly. It doesn't always work though, particularly if there is an issue with the magazine itself.

Never fear though because good rounds have a countermeasure built in. PPU .303 for instance have this tiny slope on the rim. In the event you encounter rimlock just throw the bolt forward (don't baby it) and it should cause the stuck round to slide over the one beneath it and into battery.

I own a Ruger Mk77 in .25-06 and it's got the 26" target barrel. The damn thing weighs a ton and I've still not had the chance to sight it in since I got it. My uncles boresighter broke and he passed away recently and I just haven't done it.
