The US toyed with adopting a camouflaged uniform for use in the European theater, but it looked too much like German camo so their were concerns about friendly-fire, and it never got issued.

Jesus, did anyone in this thread ever read a book about german uniforms? Only the SS, about 5% the size was issued camouflage smocks on a regular level. The only item with an camouflage pattern available to the german soldier was his shelter half, and the first ones to issue camouflaged shelter halves were the italians after WW1, which are not really famous for their advanced military.
